Official AP Chemistry Thread (2014-2015)

Hey Everyone-

As you all know, there were a couple different forms on the May AP Exam, with the alternate ones obviously being astronomically more difficult. Though CB claims to "equate" the exams, it clearly did not happen. I sent a formal email to the CB explaining this. It would be a big help if those who took the alternate form (or didn't) could also send in a short, formal email. Maybe if they see a trend, they'll take another look at the alternate forms of the exams. :)

       Thanks!

Nackle much

Meh. I gotta 4. Most of my friends got 5, but I i do have one friend with a 3 so I won’t be too disappointed.

When will scoring guidelines be posted again? Sorry if the question has already been asked.

@polarknut Yeah, I want to know that too. According to others, it was supposed to be around the time scores came out. I guess it’s pretty soon right?

My school has a less than subpar AP Chem teacher. He hardly assigned any homework, used an outdated curriculum, and gave vague answers to our questions. Less than a month before the exam all of my friends got the PR book and studied like crazy; most of them got 4’s and I got a 5. I would definitely recommend the most recent PR book over the Barron’s book. It has everything you need, rather than the overload of information provided by Barron’s. Do lots of FRQ’s, especially from past exams, and do timed practice tests. If I had to redo last year, I would take more FRQ’s.

Could someone tell me if a periodic table will be provided for this test? Also, what else will be provided (formula sheets, etc)?

@CS1211 This could have been easily searched up on google, but I’m surprised your teacher didn’t tell you. Click this link https://secure-media.collegeboard.org/digitalServices/pdf/ap/ap15_frq_chemistry.pdf and you will see the equation sheet and periodic table provided during the test.

@basedchem those are some impressive stats! Which state do you live in?! Last time anyone got a 5 in my school was a decade ago

@Sheethaaaa13 I live in CA. tbh, the percentage of 5s we had in 2015 (roughly 40% of the 200 or so kids that took it) was pretty underwhelming. I’m a TA this year, and college bound as a chem major, and I have to say, my school is pushing the curriculum A LOT harder than they were last year. I remember back in 2008 or so, everyone who took the class got either a 4 or a 5, but times have changed I guess…
