So after taking the AP exam, which study book do you think best prepared you for it? Princeton/Barrons/Crash Course/Smartypants/CliffNotes/5 Steps to a 5 and/or their 500 MC? I’m taking the class next year and I want to get a head start over the summer with self studying because the class is a joke at my school and the teacher doesn’t prepare you at all Thanks!

I personally like the PR book for APES, though I’ve heard Barron’s is especially good for cramming.

Woah, trust me, Barron’s is horrible for cramming!

I swear Barron’s is the worst book APES, Princeton is the best! Get a princeton review and you’ll be fine. Just ignore the wind patterns in it, there was NO question about wind on the AP exam

I used Smartypants and PR and I think both prepared me really well for the exam. I’m not exactly sure how I did on the mc cuz it wasn’t too hard in my opinion and the free response was really like a special birthday cake so I’m hoping for at least a 4 on this exam.

I have to take the late exam on Wednesday, any advice on what to do in these last few days?

@Mashfeek just make sure you know how to do those frqs and pay special atention to how the graders grade them. Also this might be a little too late but definitely review some questions from the 1998 released exam… that should suffice and remember, don’t panic because most of this stuff is common sense. Good luck!

Yeah, we reviewed questions from the 1998 exam in class. I took the actual exam today and I feel pretty good about it.

I self studied for APES this year, and here is my two cents:

Based off of everyone on College confidential, I decided to get Princeton Review to self study for the exam. A week before the exam, I took the practice test released by Collegeboard and missed a lot of questions. I felt that Princeton Review itself was not a comprehensive enough review - to do well, you’d have to memorize almost every sentence in there.

I then bought Barron’s for the remainder of the week to use in conjunction with PR and found this approach to be very effective - I used PR to review what I was already familiar with, and used Barron’s AND PR on the sections I was unfamiliar with (for me that was Pollution and Energy units). AP scores haven’t came out yet, but the night before the test I had gotten to the point where I was only missing about 10 multiple choice questions. I did not think the FRQ’s were too bad either.
