I know the biggest help for me in self studying was that I’d already taken AP bio.
^YES.
I self-studied for AP biology last year, and I memorized a tonnnnnn of stuff about ecology. I think that is the main reason I did so well on the FRQ. I used the little knowledge I remembered from bio to help me on the MC as well.

@gomdorii
Haha yeah, but the part that got me was “Canadian.”
Blame Canada for everything :P

Hey guys, I’m taking the Late AP exam. Is there anything that you guys recommend I should study in particular?

@noocie
I noticed that too! I was loling so hard!
There was also one question with an answer that was like “level the field with lasers.”
And I was like, “did I miss something in class???”

@Em4Joy
Haha I know right! I feel like they were either having fun making the answer options or running out of options :P

The late exams are different from the exam that was administered yesterday so you can’t really predict what they’re going to test. I recommend that you pick up a review book and start flipping through it :)

Since the free response questions have been released, we are allowed to discuss them, right? Do you guys think that deforestation and the use of pesticides are two factors that could cause a loss of biodiversity? Also, what did y’all get for the math question? I believe I got $3.08 for one of the answers, but I can’t remember the others.

I got 3 cents ish not 3 dollars

when do they post the answers

HECK YES I GOT THE $3.08 and $0.03 TOO

Also I used deforestation and the filling in of wetlands for agricultural purposes for my examples.

I miscalculated 2b but got the right setup, and I believe I got both parts of 2c correct. 2d was ridiculously easy. The other FRQs I think I did well on.

So what was 2b?

Ah shoot. I multiplied 21 by 0.11 >_<

Well, at least I showed the setup…

The MC was rough but the FRQs were easy. Seriously a middle schooler could even answer those FRQs. But those multiple choice questions were hell. What is hell is a survivorship curve? Our teacher never mentioned that word. Not once. And why where they asking about whales and polar bears and their similarities. That was straight up BIO. Unfair. CB got ahead of themselves and got to excited about the new revision of Bio questions I bet. So they dropped them on the WRONG exam.

^survivorship curves were kinda a big deal in environmental sci. Don’t blame the test because your teacher failed to teach them. Environmental sci SHOULD have some overlap with bio

I understand that there SHOULD be an overlap with Bio. Like ecology, biomes, r/k Species, carrying capacity, succession, etc. But the minute you start throwing words around like gestation & survivorship curve, that becomes too specific and more biology than environmental. im just saying.

Deforestation is too broad; they asked for specific examples. You should’ve given a type of logging.

Survivorship curve is something that’s covered in the curriculum (specifically, population, which makes up 10-15% of the test)
Some questions were definitely harder than I anticipated though.

Can anyone link me to the free response questions that were released? My teacher wants me to answer them for extra credit.

Here’s the link. Just scroll down til you see 2013 FRQs and click on it for it to open in a PDF file. =)

is environmental easier after taking bio? i took bio today and there was hardly any ecology and i dont want learning an entire topic and never apply it
