My son got a 5 on the AP World History test; however, he only received a 680 on the SAT Subject Test World History examination. I’m not certain how to reconcile those two scores.

Got a 5; could not believe it !!
I’m so happy

5!!! Loved the dbq this year…

@mangoking I’m pretty sure that was the reason I got the 5. I suck at DBQs but I would be extremely surpriesd if I didn’t get a 9 on it

@texlaker I got a 5 on the AP World exam, but a 730 on SAT II World. The tests are different; SAT II tests your knowledge of facts while the AP World exam tests trends, cause and effect, and “big ideas”. Also, since there are more students who take the AP exam than SAT World (SAT subject tests are generally for the higher ranking students who have a firm grasp of the subject), the AP exam is more generously curved (It’s also graded on a bell curve based on other students’ performances).

@DrDorias Thanks for the info regarding the differences between the two examinations. My son is now considering retaking the SAT II World History examination. He took the exam back in June at the end of his sophmore year in high school. The problem now is SAT II World History is only offered twice a year so he’ll have to wait until December to retake the exam.

Do you have any tips as to what sort of study materials he should utilize? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I got a 4 this year! Good job everyone! :)

Lets get it. Shoutout to my teacher who said I was going to fail.

Ahh! The exam is in a month! Do you guys think princeton review is worth it? I’m trying getafive.com too. Do you think that’s enough??
@athenanv13 how useful is the getafive.com? 13 hours seems like a good investment if it’s good. Check out this thread as well, if you haven’t yet: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/history-social-sciences/1368644-how-to-effectively-self-study-ap-world-history-p1.html
I’m still not sure if PR alone is sufficient. I have Barrons currently but I think I need to get PR. The thing is, I’m self studying for this exam. Do you think PR itself is alone?
