Anytip for the essays? My teacher has yet to go over the C&C and CCOTs and I’m pretty scared now. What score on the essays should I get to get a 5 if I get about 80ish% on the MC (What was the cutoff for a 5 last year)?

<a href=“AP World History Test Score Calculator - AP Pass”>http://appass.com/calculators/world

If anybody wants any exams just pm me

I got a 5 last year by essentially self-studying very diligently the week of the exam, since my teacher didn’t cover the correct topics or the essays.

The multiple choice was a joke because it was essentially reading comprehension loosely based on facts, other than a few questions.

I read the Princeton Review twice, but that didn’t help nearly as much as taking extensive notes on the entire GetAFive video course that a few others have mentioned. In fact, it was a little sketchy because the guy in the video literally said at the end of one of the videos “Oh, and by the way, the CollegeBoard wants you to know this…” and then that exact fact was, almost verbatim, a MC question. And I destroyed the essays because of the video course.

Anyways, I don’t know if they released the 2013 test, but I would warn you all that the curve is probably much harsher than the other released tests would hint, since AP Bio’s curve went from 63% to 78% for a 5 after they similarly revamped the exam.

@Verbose they revamped the exam? DO you know what kind of differences there are from the old ones?

Yes, they revamped it like 2 years ago. The FRQs are essentially the same (from what I can tell), but the Multiple Choice is based more on interpretation and comprehension of historical excerpts than past tests were. Still study as much as you can so that you can carry your grade with your essays (because the curve won’t be easy). On the MC, use your time wisely and don’t let yourself stop for too long on any one problem.

Two days before the exam. I just can’t believe it
I just finished another AP today (USGP) so now I have to cram the rest of the stuffs…
I think I know how the history flow by time, but I’m weak in details like technology, role of women, political structure etc.
What do you recommend me to do?
I know the best thing would be reading a book or at least the PR, but I’m a ‘very’ slow reader and I just wouldn’t be able to finish it before the test.
Still, I remember & understand what I heard more easily!

Anyways, what are YOU doing right now?

Anyone predict the essay topics this year?

Predicting essay topics is possibly the biggest waste of time.

We know it won’t be what’s been on it the past few years. We can rule those out.

After looking at the sample thesis in PR book, the ones I write are completely different from those in the book. What should I do? Follow what I did in class or follow the PR book.

Underline your thesis. Doesn’t matter if it looks goofy, human nature will always cause the person to look at it more carefully. As long as you present your points and use keywords like although, because, despite, continued, changed, etc etc, you’re essay will get all the points (assuming you use somewhat right facts). Also, DONT FORGET TO EXPLAIN ON THE CC AND CCOT.

It’s already night before the exam in where I leave and I just reviewed the FRQ scoring guideline to make sure I don’t miss any points.
Actually I just found out to get the extra-points on the FRQ that I have to write POV for MOST of the documents! I usually wrote two when I practice it and no one commented me on writing too little POV.
Do I really need to write more POV to get a higher score, or is it enough?

For the DBQ, its best to write a PIC for all of the documents in case you interpret one wrong. How is everybody cramming/doing last minute review tonight?

*POV

@Onsemiru My teacher taught us to write one per paragraph.

I usually do one per group but doing one for single document seems smart to get your points but time wise do you usually get time to finish? I use mad libs my teacherr gave us for pov missing doc and thesis(ccot comp.).

to get a 3 all you need is straight 3’s on your frq’sand dbq and 35 multiple choice

Or you can get 73% on multiple choice and straight ZEROS on your essays.

is there a thread on the perfect WHAP dbq/frq format
