Any tips to improve writing?

Hey, just to let people know if they haven’t checked, my writing score was up when I logged on today. I got my composite the 1st day scores were released. I’m sorry to everyone who hasn’t gotten their scores yet! Hopefully they will be on Monday! :)

Scores won’t be out again till next Wednesday. weeping… Could anyone tell me what the curve looks like for Science? If I got 3 wrong or 4 incorrect, where does that leave me for a score?

10 in my essay, and I literally made up 3 examples, and a random quote from General MacArthur, lol

@Redheaded, subscores are curved
@bsalum, so sorry that you have to wait, probably a 32-33, I got 1 wrong with a 36

Writing score came up today. 30 (7 on the essay). Composite of 32 was online as of Monday the 21st, so it only took 4 days for them to post the writing score from the day the multiple choice came out.

how do writing scores affect english scores.

Yay!!! 33 on my first try!!! (M:36 R:32 E:34 S:29 E/W:31).

@ooohcollege

The writing score is essentially your English score and essay score combined into one. There is a table to convert with online, but usually for the higher scores each point you get off on the essay detracts from your English by the same amount to obtain the writing. For example: 34 English + 10 essay = 32 Writing.

It is a “fifth” score and does not factor into the composite.

Ohhhhh…smacks head

I see now. I mistakenly thought the subscores correlated 1 to 1 with the number of incorrect answers. Don’t I feel sheepish? I (the clueless parent) did not look at the actual number of test questions per section. Subscores of 18/15/15 in math don’t necessarily mean 6 were missed in that case, correct?

So, for those of you who have received your scores and are certain of the number you’ve missed, how can you tell?

@bsalum 4 wrong would definitely be a 30 granted that you are sure that’s what you got. Science scores don’t “improve” as fast as normal scores do because the boundary between a 30 and a 36 raw score is too close (thus why people hope for larger margins).

thanks. hoping only 3!

Is anyone else unable to login?

So, is there any chance scores will be posted tomorrow?

Im impatient for my writing scores…

I just want my scores… :’(

Wednesday can’t come soon enough.

Some scores are going to be released tomorrow… That’s what the guy I talked to said. He said Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The most common time for test takers to receive their scores is 2 weeks after the test for the multiple choice. Anyone want to debate on this?

I spoke twice on ACT Chat (Friday) and twice was told the next batch release is next Wednesday, but you can sure as heck expect me to check for them tomorrow. @mjg1234- I sure hope you are right! I even checked them yesterday and today because I can’t control myself. Going nuts.

@bsalum it’s ridiculous why scores are released so randomly. It used to be when I checked 2 weeks after on Monday. Idk the guy I asked said to check Monday also. I check like every hour lol but we’ll see in an hour if the maintenance message comes up on act website

remember, Iowa is central time…
