I am disapppointed and know I can do better from some practice tests when I scored higher. I am in 10th grade and wondering whether I should retake? I am interested in studying engineering and it seems like I am in the mid to the top end of the mid range at every school in which I am interested, including Cal Tech. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I messed up my writing portion… :(:(

@soontobedone There is no reason not to take it more times. But with a good score like you have, my advice is to not automatically send scores, but send them manually after you get results. You can only send the results you want. Despite what some schools say, they do not have access to tests you did not release.

You mentioned CalTech, and while they don’t technically “superscore” the test this is what they say about it: “When we review your application… We will look at all of your scores, paying particular attention to the general pattern of scores and emphasizing the highest score for each individual exam.”

My scores just posted, so it looks like they released another batch today, instead of waiting for Friday.

No clue how I managed to pull a 12, I thought that was the worst essay I had ever written and was going to be happy if I got an 8. Not complaining though.

W: ? haven’t got it yet
Sort of disappointed in Math as I got an 800 on the SAT math portion. Should I retake to try and get a 34 composite score.

@Christobal21‌ It never hurts to retake. One thing to keep in mind is you have a 32.5 average (rounded to 33) which means you’ll need a full 4 points worth of improvement somewhere in your sub-scores to get the 34. By all means, go for it though.

@Christobal21‌, I think it would be relatively easy for you to recoup based on an 800 Math SAT score. I figure you got 6 wrong/blank on this ACT. You could def turn that around based on your skill set.

Finally got my writing score today!!! 12!!! YAAAAAAAAYYYY!

I used <a href=“ACT Essay Guide - How to Get a 12 - ACT Preparation - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/act-preparation/1137654-act-essay-guide-how-to-get-a-12.html</a></p>

this method. I went from an 8 to a 12 in 3 months! (really only 1 week of preparation for writing specifically)

Have been listed as tested for > 1wk, but no scores- called and was told MC scores and writing were done and she was surprised I couldn’t see the scores. Told me to look tomorrow AM

@3tennisstars‌ : did they mean ALL MC scores and writing were done or just yours?
(sorry, clarification, I’m dying to know my scores!)

Writing Score came back

@3tennisstars: Are you getting the “quality assurance” message? Have they finished grading all MC scores, or are you just special? ;)

mine is being posted today, but she said there would be a batch. She was surprised I hadn’t already been able to see MC score before- said I would be able to see writing and MC scores this morning. Still not up and not available by the “see early ACT” URL paste-in method either- still says “null” in every field.
