Science was much harsher than I expected and reading was somewhat harsher than I expected.

Cool, only got -1 on science and reading. Wish I’d have gotten those right.

If that’s true, it’s the most wicked curve the ACT has had in ages: usually you can get one wrong in Reading and still get a 36, not a 34. Do you have a link or is this just rumor?

^ No, this is pretty much true. No one who posted their scores got a 35 in reading and therefore, it is safe to assume that one wrong meant a 36. Not so sure about science though.

^ You mean 34?

Someone on another thread scored a 36 composite with a 35 in science; it’s possible that he made a typo because a 34 in science would have also still given him the 36 composite. On the other hand, that curve above looks very unforgiving EVERYWHERE, so I wonder about it.

We’re mainly worried for a couple of my son’s friends, who he’s been trying to assist in getting into a top-20 college. My son got a 36 twice, once on this April test (for his school, as required) and once last June (for college app purposes). For the purpose of helping friends, however, a tougher test with a looser curve is easier to prep for, because it’s SO easy to misread a question or make a silly mistake or just come across the oddball question that asks you something you’ve never seen before.

The April 2011 curve is accurate. I got mine back today. I missed 3 in English, 6 in Math, 5 in Reading, 3 in Science. Composite = 31.

@wizkid94 Are you saying you got your June 2011 scores back and it matches up with the April curve?

This curve is a lot harsher than I expected. I definitely don’t think I improved on June then.

I think he got his score report back with answers and what not today, so he was confirming that what was posted is correct for April 2011.
