Sorry, but has anyone had trouble with missing transcripts? MIT just emailed me to say that they don’t have my transcript, but I actually sent it to them at least a month before the deadline. Because my university registrar’s office is closed for the holidays, I emailed them back with a pdf copy of my transcript and a note saying that it must have gotten lost in the mail and that I will be sending them a fresh copy after the holidays. Do you think I can do anything else at this moment? Btw, I’m overseas now and panicking over this now. Thanks.

I wouldn’t worry shu_uemura. Most schools can use unofficial copies of your transcript or test scores to make their interview offers, but will require an official copy before a final admission decision is made. MIT didn’t get my GRE scores right away, but I sent a PDF copy and that was enough for my application to be deemed complete.

Hey! I’ve been following this forum for months…but only joined today!
Got a call from Sloan-Kettering this morning. My first interview so far!! Weekend Jan 20th-22nd (Hope NYC isn’t freezing then). Submitted my app. around mid. november, and was complete within a week
My stats:
International student (UG in top 50 school in the US-currently a senior)
GRE: 800Q/690V/5.5 WR
GPA:3.87/4
1 Publication, 1 abstract at national meeting, 2 years of solid research experience

I’m new at this forum. I apply sloan-kettering graduate school this year. I know last year sloan-kettering school offered a list of qualified applicants. Could you (prash07) tell me if anyone graduated from universities outside US? Thanks a lot.

D0uD0u, all of the schools that i applied to had a place on their website where they mention that international applicants will have a phone interview.

Thanks Belevitt. I meant if somebody has gone through a phone interview, could you share your experience please? How long do the phone calls last? Do they ask you about your previous research? Is it usually before or after the recruitment weekends?

I have an interview at the end of Jan. A friend of mine suggests me to buy business suit for the interview. I wonder does it really have to be that formal? Thank you!

For bio interviews a suit would be way overkill. No jeans, tshirts, or sneakers. Other than that, anything goes. Most people will probably be in slacks and a button down/polo/sweater.

doudou,
from what i have heard, it will vary widely depending on the professors/programs. it could be a short few minute friendly call where you are pretty much the one to ask questions about the program and they will ask you what your interests are. At the other end of the spectrum, they might ask technical questions about experimental techniques and such. The best preparation would be to know what you have done in your past research projects and why you did it. And it would be good to have a basic idea of the professor’s work and the program so you can ask them questions about it. thats my two cents from talking to a few people.
