Official Biomedical Sciences Interviews/Acceptances 2009

hey neurohopeful- do you know if columbia’s neurobiology & behavior sends out interview invites in bulk? i didn’t get an invite… does that mean it’s bad news?

@ymmit - i did apply to two programs (one chemistry, one biochem/molbio) that didn’t require interviews and sent out the acceptance along with an invite for a “visit” … but the interview is a valuable chance for you to check out the program/school/city as well and see if they can impress you too.

I’m not sure about bulk emails, but they have 1 Jan date and 1 mid-Feb date. A current student I know in the program warned me earlier in the semester that I probably wouldn’t hear anything until after the holidays, so I wouldn’t worry if you haven’t received an email yet. Maybe it is just rolling…

Did anyone apply to the Gerstner-Sloan Kettering Cancer Bio PhD program? They have their Interview/Recruitment on Jan 20-22, and classes begin in July, so they have to start informing people soon.

I checked the Princeton site: They seem to take more time to inform. Interviews are not until Feb-March.

Nissle, I didn’t apply to Sloan-K but last year someone got the invitation around this time of the year. Good luck.

UMich PIBS this morning, by phone.

Those who got the interviews or will be getting interviews, can you please post your stats and the list of the colleges you are applyin?
thanks

if anyone is interested, this is another interview thread from the 07 cycle [Biology/Biomedical Science/Microbiology Interview Invitations - TestMagic Forums](<a href=“Biology/Biomedical Science/Microbiology Interview Invitations - Graduate Admissions - Urch Forums”>Biology/Biomedical Science/Microbiology Interview Invitations - Graduate Admissions - Urch Forums)

Got an email from Yale Immunology today. Interview’s from Jan 29 to Feb 1.

harvard neuroscience by email. but uw seattle is on the same weekend. so i wonder which school to ask about rescheduling. i love both the programs.

Thanks backflip. And I am so worried that my Dartmouth MCB application shows up as incomplete even though everything they asked for has been received. And it does not help that I am an international student (doing my Masters in the US).

When picking faculty for your interview list, I know that first and foremost it’s important to choose one who does what you’re interested in. On a level below that, is it usually better to choose faculty who are younger and excited, or old and established- even famous? I am just wondering if we would be able to connect with one or the other better, and if that will factor into the admissions decision.

Has anyone heard back from Harvard Immunology? Some people have gotten interviews at neuroscience and virology which are also through DMS. I know BBS doesn’t even do interviews, is Immunology the same?

Besides Harvard I applied to UChicago, PIBS at Michigan, and UPenn, all immunology and have gotten interview invitations to each of them.

oops sorry!
