RQB2009:

I heard from MCB at USC on the 13th of January. Interviews are this friday.

Anyone going to UTHSCSA IMGP interview 2/5-2/7? I’m interested in the Biology of Aging track.

Hello! just discovered this site looking to gain some info from all you nice people out there. Well I have applied to a few graduate programs, most of them on the east coast.

Applied to:
New York Univesity - Computional Biology PhD

Rockefeller Unviversity - Graduate Program PhD

Stony Brook - Biomedical Engineering PhD

The City College of New York - Biomedical Engineering PhD

Boston University - Bioinformatics PhD

SUNY Downstate Medical Center - Cell and Molec. Biology

So far I have been notified from BU about an Admissions open house their paying for travel and hotel expenses. Is this considered an interview??? Did anyone else get this notification???

I was wondering has anyone heared from rockefeller university??? or NYU Comp. Bio.??? or perhaps any of the other programs I am applying to???

Thanks I hope someone could lead a head…this waiting around is just too much for me!!! sometimes i want to called them up and just scream at them for being so slow!!!..LOL

Hi i’m an international student who applied to UT Health Science Center-Houston. Do you mind telling me their contact no. so I could ask about their decisions?

Thanks for the info sydneya. I’m aware of the March weekend for wustl, so I’m not as worried about that, even though they say on their website that it gets harder for full acceptance as the time goes by because it’s rolling admissions. And I thought I read somewhere in the Weill brochure about them only having one weekend around the time you stated. If it’s mid-Feb., I’m screwed. If it’s late-Feb., I got about a week left for a notice!

Thanks again.

Alrighty, I guess it’s time for an update. Interested in virology and/or gene therapy.

Applied: UPenn (CAMB), Harvard (Virology), Rockefeller, Mount Sinai (Microbiology), UTMB, and Mayo Clinic

Interviewed: UPenn, Harvard, Mount Sinai
Declined Interview: Mayo

Accepted: UPenn, Harvard, Mount Sinai, UTMB

Still waiting, probably rejected: Rockefeller

Now I just have to figure out where to go.

@NIURO: I’m heading to NYU in a couple days, but I just got my travel itinerary last Friday. So I wouldn’t worry too much for now. If your trip is next week and you don’t get an itinerary by the end of this week, then I’d call.

Ender, I assume UPenn does rolling admission - do you roughly know how many people got accepted from your interview weekend?

@xiv21: ahh, thats good to know. I’ll still do my usual worrying though

fishy, the CAMB site at UPenn has listed acceptance rates of 88-90% of those interviewed. Check out the cached pages at http://www.archive.org (post their admissions page site). This past year was the lowest at 85%.

So if you get an interview at UPenn, you’re as good as it gets for full acceptance percentages.

I have my interview there this week (Feb. 5-7)

So I am waiting to hear from NYU Neural Science and Albert Einstein. Should I assume since I wasn’t invited to the Open House for NYU that I was denied admission? And is Einstein rolling? Is that perhaps why I haven’t heard?

Hey fishy-

Like MCTItans said, UPenn (at least the CAMB program) takes most everyone they interview, the weekend is really about them trying to sell the school and see if they are a good fit for you. I also believe they have 3 interview weekends, and typically notify about 1 week after the interviews, so it is rolling admissions in that sense.

I haven’t heard from NYU either…but i applied for the computational biology program…has anyone heard from that program yet??? Also i was not aware that Einstein has rolling admissions…does that mean i can still apply??? i thought i missed the deadline…

Hi Ender, I’m also interested in virology and I have an interview at Mt. Sinai next mon/tues. I’m an international student…judging from everyone else’s stats I’m guessing Mt. Sinai is most interested in research experience than anything else (like my grades which aren’t that great). Any advice? Also, do you know how many of those interviewed are likely to get accepted? Thanks!

I’m not applying but does anyone know Harvard DMS’ immunology still sending out interview notices?

shnjb, i work in an immuno lab at harvard med. (i also applied to harvard dms immuno)

the recruitment weekend already happened 2 weekends ago. i believe that was the only interview weekend for them.

Hi PatchesNBrownie,

Do you know if Harvard DMS Immunology is done with sending out acceptance?
Thanks!

Oh I see. I thought that was virology but I guess it was immunology also.
Thanks.

Rejected by UCSF PSPG this morning via attachment PDF after logging into the application page. LOL.
