Official Biomedical Sciences Interviews/Acceptances 2009

@neurokid - Thanks for your thoughts on the matter, we both have a similar take on the options. As it stands, the school that made the offer is rapidly becoming more appealing, so it all may be a moot point anyhow. Especially since I haven’t fully made my mind up yet, and if I did try to leverage an offer with the other programs and then not act on it, it would be an especially dick move.

@belevitt - It is definitely interesting to hear that such negotiations are possible, it’s always nice to have choices.

I just found out that there will be 7 (possibly 8) 30 minute interviews for Scripps this weekend. Really looking for someone who’s been there… or will be!

yeah, what in the WORLD is going on with UCSD Biology??? Those people need to get a move on it! Also, I’d really appreciate a rejection letter from Harvard…I feel the LEAST I deserve is some type of notification since they’re obviously completely ignoring me. Grrrrrrrr

@ patches:
I heard on Saturday, the day we left the interview. But I’m not sure when they’re making the rest of the acceptances, sorry! My feeling was that it was one of those interviews where they accept the majority of people though, I’m sure you’re fine!

aww… congrats though TWOjumbo! :)

anyone else waiting on UCSF Tetrad this week? The interview was this past Friday.

I thought I was the only one feeling ignored, as I haven’t got any acceptance or rejection from my applications:

Northwestern IGP
Mayo Graduate School
University of New Mexico Graduate Program
I am an international applicant with 1.5 years of experience, 1 published paper, and 2 international meetings attendances.

Oh, and I also applied to programs in Germany:
HBIGS in Heidelberg
DKFZ in Heidelberg
IDI in Berlin…
only accepted to Heidelberg, but I did not accept the offer since it was a position in a field that does not match my interests.

Anyone applying to the same American programs (NU, Mayo, UNM)?

Hi AstarothCY I applied to Mayo Grad school as well, along with Northwestern U. IGP and University of New Mexico.

I don’t know if I am out of the game, since I haven’t gotten an interview, or anything…I am just considering to appy for a PhD here in my home country.

Got accepted at Northwestern IGP via email this afternoon.

Dear all waiting to hear from Weill Cornell IMP (do I sound obsessed yet?) -

Just spoke with Stephen Nesbit (program coordinator) and he is going to let me know by Friday at the latest. Decisions rolling in soon, buckle up!

Accepted to Northwestern IGP (MPH/PhD dual degree) and UC-Davis Microbiology Graduate Group (PhD).

Just got an acceptance by email from UCSD biology. Man, I thought I didn’t get in because of how long it took them to reply!

Has anyone heard from UCSD Neurosciences yet? I know the interviews weren’t that long ago, but I’m still dying to hear anything.

Hi all,

Has anyone heard from Stony Brook Genetics? When was their last round of interview? Did they say when they will start to send offer decisions? Thanks!

Update:

Applied to:
NYU - Computational Biology
Rockefeller University - Chemical Biology
SUNY Downstate Medical Center - Biomedical Engineering
Stony Brook University - Biomedical Engineering

Has anyone hear anything from any of these schools???

anyone back from UPGG@duke interview…

anyone got any news?

applied: BBSP@UNC-CH, GSBS@UMassMed, UPGG@Duke
rej: BBSP@UNC-CH, GSBS@UMassMed

Does anyone know if UCSF Neuroscience does rolling admissions? Still haven’t heard back. I’ve spoken to a few other recruits who attended the 2/19-2/21 interview and they haven’t heard back either. Hopefully this is a good sign.

I have not heard back from UCSF Neuroscience yet either and I don’t think they are making their decisions until their second recruitment weekend is over (this weekend I think?)

@ Grad0202_09:

I applied to SUNY Downstate for admission in Fall '08 and STILL haven’t heard anything from them  Given it was a different program, but if you get to mid-march and still hear nothing, I wouldn’t be ashamed to call

applied to NYU also, no feedback at all…
