<p>Well husband got back from UW-Seattle Micro. interview yesterday and really liked it. It’s got everything he’s looking for and just got a general good feeling about it. Down side is they are having funding issues so they will be taking fewer people than in the past. They interviewed 22 people, will offer admission to 12 and expect that only 5 will accept. Everyone else will be wait-listed. So now we wait to hear back. If he’s wait-listed we only plan to wait till the end of the month. In the end if he doesn’t get in he’ll be going to UW-Madison which is also a great program.</p>

<p>fayrlite, which program in Madison your husband applied? microbiology or other programs? I remember it allow people choose up to three programs total.</p>
<p>angelswing1983, he applied to Micro. He’s very specific about the field he’s interested in. It’s Microbial Pathogenesis. When he applied several of his professors suggested applying to more than one but he really wanted to stay in micro. Also he was told that they will pass on an application to different departments if they think you would be a better fit elsewhere. If you have any questions regarding the school or area I’d be happy to help. We’ve been here for the past 3 years. Which departments did you apply for?</p>

<p>fayrlite, thank you~~~~ I applied cancer biology, CMB and neuroscience, my situation is my bf is medical student there and I am working at Northwestern now, I really like cancer research, so I applied CMB and cancer cause these two both include cancer. I was put on direct admit list for CMB but that is very little chance for me to get in, I went to cancer biology for an interview last last week, however that is a very competitive program, I heard they will only accept 5-6 people and also I am international… I emailed them few days ago, they told me the decision could be the end of march before they make all decisions, I worry about this very much~~~ seems hope is very little but that is really the only place I want to go… It would be helpful for me to know whether they already made offer to domestic students and I am on waiting list or they are not interested in me at all, but seems they will not tell me for another month…</p>

<p>I applied to CM and haven’t heard yet. But they told us to expect it to take 2 weeks, so I’m thinking early next week?</p>
<p>angelswing1983, it’s a real bum deal this year for international students. I can’t really say much for those programs other than I know them to be good. My husband said he really doesn’t know much about the acceptance situation either. Hope it works out well for you though. Good news is it will be all over soon.</p>

<p>I just heard back from a friend that had emailed Meredith Canode, the Grad Program Director of Bio @ BU. She told him that the decisions have been made and have been sent to the Grad School for approval. Notifications should be sent out by Friday. </p>
<p>Since it is already quite late today, I’m expecting to hear sometime tomorrow then! And I wanted to share with everyone who is also waiting.</p>
<p>fayrlite, I know the only thing I could do is wait, this year everywhere is hard for international, even I have 4 publications… but I think even I can not get in this fall, I will try something out with my bf in madison and there is always someway to do the things I want to do. Wish all lucks to you and your husband:)</p>
