General Comments: I think with Brown essays mattered a lot so try to give them your all. Also, as cheesy as it sounds, write from the heart because unless you care about what you’re writing about, adcoms wont either. don’t write what you think they want you to write, because that just sets you up for uninspired, generic writing. good luck rd’ers

Decision: accepted

sorry…I don’t feel like filling the whole form out but I do agree that I think they pay a lot of attention to the essays. I had pretty good SAT/ACT scores, but not the best. Also, ranked high in class, but not 1 or 2. I did spend A LOT of time on my essays and I think that’s what payed off. Good luck to everyone deferred.

Spending a lot of time on the essays really helps and for AmazingOnline, I did receive a personalized letter as did all the other accepted ED students.

Just want to chime in here.
NYEM, I didn’t get a “personalized” letter and the last time I checked, (last night lol), on the official FB group, some other southerners didn’t get one either. I’m hoping mine is in the mail or something…
Did your letter come with the glossary of terms or whatever? My regional admissions person DID send me something, but it didn’t mention anything specific in my application.

That’s interesting, potterpie. I received nothing like a glossary of terms; maybe these letters were done according to regional admission officer? I know that everyone from my area (long island) received the personalized letters.

hm. oh well. Thanks for the information. Congrats on your acceptance. :)

Thanks, and you too! I’m sure you’re just as excited about Brown as I am!

Yeah, i got another letter too. But I’m talking about something like: a reference to your essays on the original decision letter/the one that was online.
And the letter I got from Takao just looks like a template with my name replaced on there.
Oh, and that’s the person that emailed me last time about FA~

I was deferred. SAT scores were pretty dreadful to be honest, but everything else was good. Hopefully I’ll be accepted in the spring!

I can’t seem to locate my deferral letter, though, and I remember the online notification said there was further information in the letter that they mailed out. Can anyone copy their deferral letter on here for me, or at least tell me the directions/information they received in it? Thank you so much!

Anybody knows the move in day coz I want to book my air-ticket. Thanks a lot.

The previous semester started… Sept 1st; and freshman attending TWTP came the past weekend in advance.

Happyboyivy: Orientation starts on the third of September for fall 2011. Move-in day will probably be that day or the 2nd, but it could be earlier if you’re planning on attending a pre-orientation program. If you can, I’d hold off on buying a ticket until you’re sure whether you’re doing a program or not.
