**OFFICIAL CAL POLY SLO CLASS of 2019 Regular Decision** Thread

Accepted to business
32 ACT
3.73 unweighted GPA

@eyemgh‌ @r77r77 yes Caluculus AB and then Caculus 2 at a comunity college

@eyemgh‌ I’m really glad that you helped me understand how CP goes through applications because i think I would be much more dismayed if I did not know how the process worked.

I’m going to post everything on here so you all can see why I think it’s so silly that I got rejected.
Major: Computer Engineering

GPA (weighted): 4.53
GPA (unweighted): 4.0
UC GPA: 4.66
AP Classes: 10 (5’s on AP Calculus AB, AP Physics B, AP Environmental Science, and AP US History. 4’s on AP World History and AP English Lang)
This year’s schedule: AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP Lit, AP Government, drawing and painting, and Calculus 2 at a community college 1st semester
Total science classes taken: 6 (all AP or honors. I’ve taken every AP or honors science course my school has to offer except for Physiology for obvious reasons)
And I’ve taken every AP class my school has to offer except AP Spanish and AP Psychology

SATs: 700 Math, 690 CR, 690 W (almost perfect 700’s :frowning: )
Subject Tests: 760 Math 2, 740 Physics

Both parents went to college.

California resident.

Stuff that SLO didn’t really know:
-I attended COSMOS at UCSD and won the Gordon Scholars award for top final project in my class
-I attended Academic Connections at UCSD on a full ride scholarship and got UCSD credit for an Intro to Programming class
-Co-Founder and Co-President of my FIRST Robotics team. Completely self sufficient and managed entirely by students the 1st year. We competed in National Championships in St Louis as a rookie team. We have raised $35,000 over the past 2 years. The only engineering activity at my school.
-NCWIT Aspirations 2014 an 2015 San Diego Winner and 2014 National Runner-Up
-Academic Team starter for 3 years
-Piano lessons for the past 10 years

Would I say that I’m a bit ticked off? Yes. Devastated? No. My dream school is Berkeley and EECS is incredibly hard to get into there. I was thinking I had a good shot at SLO, but apparently the algorithm thought otherwise. But I don’t like the fact that they only looked at my numbers because there is a lot more to me than just GPA and SAT! Sure glad UC’s get that.

colleges can’t just admit the top students, they need to have a variety of students or i’d be boring.
still sucks i didn’t get in for CS. I know I’ll end up at a good school.

Stats
GPA 4.6, max CSU
SAT M 750 CR 650 , math2 730 , physics 720
tons of EC’s ASB class officer, numerous leadership positions, band
completed 10 AP’s by end of 11th grade, taking 5 more senior year
score of 5 for AP Computer Science, AP Physics, AP Calculus AB, and other non math/science

@appleface47 don’t see anything about Foreign Language. How many years did you take?

@engineerisme‌ oops I forgot to take!

haha just kidding. Went up to spanish 3. I tried AP Spanish but it was waaay too difficult for me (spanish has always been my worst subject) so I switched to AP Environmental Science

Your stats are similar to mine, except your ACT was one point higher than mine. I got in after everybody claimed they stopped releasing acceptances (March second), so you probably will too. It really isn’t a super selective school for good students.

@appleface47 Well I have no clue then except that maybe Cal Poly did not think your drawing/painting class qualified as a fine art. That seems to be the only thing you could be missing.

@engineerisme‌ no, that’s not really possible. The counselors at my high school make sure we meet all of the a-g requirements and my counselor said that drawing and painting would meet that requirement. Besides, I was waitlisted. I think you’re automatically rejected if you don’t meet the a-g requirements

@theeberk‌ I got waitlisted today

Just realized I wrote rejected in my post. I meant to say waitlisted.

Would it be fair to say if I still haven’t heard it is a high possibility it is a rejection??

@appleface47, you are an amazing student, and I know you will be smiling when you get accepted into ALL the rest of your schools. Because if you don’t get into Berkeley, no one will.

@appleface47 I completely feel the same as you do. I have about the same stats as you yet they wait listed me. But it’s okay because they’re missing out

@1337MOM‌ thank you! I sure hope so. I keep saying, it’s crazy that even when you try your absolute hardest in high school a lot of people still can’t get into their top choices >_< it’s so dang competitive!

@gaeunshi‌ good luck!! :slight_smile:

just wondering…when u click on “make a payment” in student center…then does it take you to page with link on top to payment page? does this show up for everyone…accepted, waitlisted and those who have not heard?

i have nothing better to do…lol…so clicking all over the place…lol

Ugh got waitlisted yesterday :frowning:

waitlisted for statistics

Hey can anyone answer this for me…
I checked my aid today and see some scholarships. However those scholarships + my EFC still don’t equal the COA. Does that mean more aid is to come? This isn’t my final award, right? The portal can update as more aid is approved?

Has anyone been admitted into Mechanical Engineering?
