Official Class of 2013 Brown Waitlist Thread

congrats tkpim! did they tell when they would be mailing out acceptance packages?

Congrats tkpim! We should start making a list of those who have been taken off the waitling list so far.

@schzmo, my regional rep said Tuesday, but I’m not sure if that means “mailing out” or “received on”. No difference to me, but I kind of want to make an email account so I can change my Facebook network soon. HAHA I am lame.

@waesei, I was about to attend Rice, too!

hey guys,
i have been silently following this thread since the fifteenth.
i just called brown because i have not received any communications from them since the first week of april, even though i have sent them two extra things (i sent them a letter of interest and my principal sent a letter of recommendation). the woman i spoke to said that all of the waitlist files are currently being reviewed by the admissions board, which indicates to me that they are still unwaitlisting students. i hope that gives some of you some hope and that you can relax and enjoy what’s left of high school as you wait to hear from brown.

new poster here as well. So, since it’s tuesday and nobody else has gotten any news via mail, i kind of think the letters are supposed to be mailed today, and then we’ll get them later (hopefully). Thanks to the poster above for calling admissions.

i don’t want to worry anybody, but I’m reporting that i received my acceptance packet today. I’m still at school but my mom texted me to let me know it’s at home.

Does anyone here (on the waitlist or recently accepted off it) need financial aid? Unfortunately, I would need substantial financial aid in order to attend, and though I have tried to get local scholarships (in the rare situation that Brown took me off the waitlist, which now seems like an impossible event), even that money would not be enough. So, have any of you “acceptees” needed any financial aid? Thanks for your response(s).

bluesky, Brown is need blind for the waitlist. Which means the admissions staff does not consider financial need when deciding who to take off. And Brown will meet 100% of need to anyone accepted off the waitlist.

Will Brown send mail to all waitlisted applicants regardless of whether or not we were accepted off the waitlsit? Like will they notify you if your not being accepted off the waitlist? Also, I just checked the mail and nothing from Brown today. Sviola, do think you were perhaps one of the first applicants chosen off the waitlist and they sent you your acceptance package early? I’m a bit baffled at this point. No contact with Brown since I told them that I wanted to stay on the waitlist and sent in an update letter. My college counselor is in China at the moment, so I have no idea if she was ever contacted by them, and I haven’t heard from my regional representative at all. Its tough feel so uninformed. I just want some closure!!!

When Brown will no longer use the wait list they will notify everyone who is still on the wait list that their class is full.

hi guys.
just got off the waitlist at penn!!!
contemplating staying on the brown waitlist…any thoughts?

Oh gosh, now I’m really nervous! I’ve been waiting for Brown for so long and I haven’t heard anything. No letter thanking me for continued interest, no calls to my counselor, no calls from my regional director . . . I’m trying so hard to not lose hope.

Yet, I question if I got caught up into the whole Ivy League hype. But I love Brown, I really do. But hey, there’s always Fordham '13!

I’m floating in the same nausea-inducing boat as you are! I’ve heard not a peep from Brown since they sent me the waitlist decision at the end of March. In my darker moments I speculate that perhaps they only accidentally offered me a position on the waitlist, when other times I wonder if maybe my regional admissions counselor is simply a silent type or if Brown just hasn’t begun reviewing my application yet…the what-ifs are so exhausting, aren’t they?

^I could not agree with you more! So many “what ifs?”! It’s very emotionally draining…but either way, I know I’ll be happy at Northwestern so I’m pretty much starting to accept the fact that I’ve probably been rejected. It’s cool though cause I’ll be very happy to be a proud Wildcat!

Oh, yeah. I’m definitely going to be happy at Fordham because everyone from my school is going there. It’s a great place, but it’s ironic I’m going there because my high school rivals their own high school. We even have a saying called “Slam the Rams” haha. So pretty much, my only worry is who do I root for when we have the XHS vs. Fordham Prep Turkey Bowl. I’m thinking of the phrase “Rams for Knights” haha. I’m probably going to get beat up, but hey, I’m a Knight before a Ram.

Brown, it’s been a great battle and I accept the outcome regardless. Too bad my Naviance will have another red dot to put in the Brown Box.

=/
Ah…at least most of you know -something- about your regional office. I live in the middle of the Pacific Ocean (an island), and frankly, I don’t think I have a regional office anywhere near here. Not to mention, I’ve had no contact with Brown after I mailed in my little blue card.
There’s this classmate of mine who got a likely letter for Cornell, and he got his admission decision before the likely letter for Cornell arrived in his post office. So heck, if Brown tried to contact me in any way, I probably won’t know unless it’s by email…What a sad, sad life…
Lol. In any case, good luck to everyone.

Adagia,
I totally understand you here. I’m an intl living in SE Asia and my situation’s pretty much the same as yours. Haven’t heard a word from Brown from April 1st onwards both by postage or email.

I just hate to think that we’ll be the last to know since any decision would be sent to us by airmail, which literally takes forever. AAHH… it’s so emotionally exhausting to be worried about this when exams are coming up.

I know I should be happy as a Dartmouth '13, but hey, there’s still hope for something I like better, right?

@kenflyken

***? y rn’t u taking your name off the WL and going to Dartmouth?!?!?! I would perfer Dartmouth 100% over Brown its not even close.

the stars are for

W

T

F

idk y it does that

From previous threads, the wait can go on until the end of July.
