** Official Class of 2017 University of Michigan EA Decisions Thread **

I got deferred too in case anyone cares or was wondering. Got the “good deferral” doeeee

whyyyyy are there different deferral letters ugh

Sorry to hear afrojack. I was hoping you’d been accepted after talking over in tOSU thread. I’m sure you’ll all still be fine though! Good luck!

Yeah, I’m not upset about the deferral (at least considering it was a “good” deferral letter, at least). I made it very clear that UMich was my first choice, noted my visits and experiences there, etc - I’ll be honest, it probably was just my GPA that put me at a serious disadvantage. Oh well. I’ll just keep working hard and get there in the end. :)

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc:
Have an older brother attending Michigan at the Ross Business school with strong grades, probably helped

Same, I’m like 100% sure I got deferred because of my GPA. I’m guessing they want my semester grades to see if I got even worse this year but I’m doing better so fingers crossed.

@TSA Still have a shot though! Hope to see you in college :)

We have carefully considered your application to the University of Michigan College of Engineering for Fall 2013. Given our surging application volume and very strong credentials of our applicants, admission to the University is becoming increasingly competitive. As a result, your application has been deferred for a final decision until a later date.

Your application will be re-evaluated, and a final decision will be made based on how your credentials and academic achievements contribute to the composition and quality of this year’s freshman applicant pool. All final admissions decisions of admit, deny, or waitlist will be made no later than early-April, 2013.

Please refer to the website Information for Deferred Students | University of Michigan Office of Admissions for FAQ’s about the admission process and what to do next. Strong fall semester or second trimester grades may enhance your status in the deferred pool of applicants. Therefore, please ask your high school counselor to forward your fall semester or second trimester grades when they become available and be sure your U-M ID is on the material. Beyond that, we are confident that the information you have given us is more than sufficient for a final decision. The most successful candidates send us only what we require.

We hope your interest in Michigan continues, and you have our best wishes for an enjoyable and successful senior year.

which deferral letter is this? do i still have a chance if my senior year semester one grades are really good?? ugh freaking out right now…

^ That’s the supposed “not good” one, although we don’t know whether the type of deferral letter has any bearing on admissions.

Isn’t that the good one? It asks for semester grades

Nope, the “good” one includes the sentence “We are pleased that you have applied and are impressed with your achievements.”

although i’m not sure why the one asking for semester grades is the bad one (even though i said that). because if they want more grades it means they’re actually gonna look at your app again…

@afrojack That’s how I’m thinking about my ACT . My GPA is fine, but that 26 is probably holding me back badly…so I foresee a deferral in the distance soon.

Too nervous about tomorrow. My ACT is not good because I don’t have time to prepare for it. And I have to take English tests for international students, the score is not as good as I wish. But I am running out of time and there is no possibility for me to take the tests again. But I really hope I can get in. I have been dreaming of getting into U of M since the first day in Michigan.

so does that mean if youre not in that “selected group” than youre basically rejected???

So now that EA is over, is Michigan on a rolling admission schedule?
