** Official Class of 2017 University of Michigan EA Decisions Thread **

@Osserpusser, Thanks. We are in State! Even I thought my son would be a good candidate even though we never assumed anything or took anything for granted. As for ECs, he has been with Science Olympiad for 2 yrs, NHS for 1 year, debate club 1 year, student association for Asians for 2 years. He has also been active in one of the community youth groups. He organized the red cross blood drive in the summer after his 9th grade and he did ALL THE LEG WORK. They collected 27 pints! He worked for a whole month at the cancer research facility and got a stellar recommendation letter from the scientists he worked with. He has never had any bad record of any sort. He speaks Spanish very well although we are Asian, in fact he is planning on doing a minor in Spanish. So…I don’t understand what went wrong here. As you can tell, we are still very devastated and as a parent, I am trying to contain it so that he doesn’t feel any worse than he is now. I sure do wish there was an appeal process. We can’t get anyone in the admissions office to respond to our request for a brief meeting so far, just to find out what went wrong! His essays were excellent based on the feedback we got from reviews prior to submitting. He got excellent recommendation letters from teachers.

@Bigdoglover, We are in IN STATE! Yet the same outcome :(

sssb777… when did he apply? There is another thread on here where the OP applied towards the end of the deadline with very good stats, and was told there were just very few spots left by the time they got his app. Since it’s “rolling” admissions, seems like some got burned by applying later, assuming it wouldn’t make a difference if their stats were strong enough.

(((sssb777))) I’d have accepted your son in a heartbeat.

Have you given any thought to a future transfer? I’ve seen many posts of students who didn’t get in with their first application but were able to transfer in later.

I think there is an enormous chance that your son could still graduate from UM.

Nice job…

^Poor job if you think this thread is for Class of 2018 EA. LOL.

No i just posted a comment so it would show up on my phone

…but this is an old thread that isn’t really relevant anymore

-_- dont know why it has attracted attention but I want to see what type of students got in at any time from my phone with having to search for it on Google…

Without********

Well each time someone posts on a thread it bumps it to the top of the forum again haha (like I’m doing right now …), you could just bookmark this
