"Thank you for your application to the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts for Fall 2013. We are pleased that you have applied and are impressed with your achievements. However, our high application volume, coupled with the very strong credentials of our applicants in recent years, has contributed to an increasingly competitive admissions process. As a result, we are writing to inform you that your application is currently being deferred for further review.

While this is not the answer that you were hoping to hear, it is still good news. Your application is one of a group that remains under consideration. All final admissions decisions of admit, deny, or waitlist will be made no later than early-April, 2013.

Please refer to the website [Information for Deferred Students | University of Michigan Office of Admissions](http://www.admissions.umich.edu/deferred) for FAQ’s about the admission process and what to do next. Strong fall semester or second trimester grades may improve your status in the deferred pool of applicants. Therefore, please ask your high school counselor to forward your fall semester or second trimester grades when they become available and be sure your U-M ID 24311006 is on the material. Beyond that, we are confident that the information you have given us is more than sufficient for a final decision. The most successful candidates send us only what we require.

Because you are in this select group, we hope your interest in Michigan continues, and we will keep you informed of our progress. You have our best wishes for an enjoyable and successful end of your senior year.

Sincerely,

Theodore L. Spencer
Associate Vice Provost and Executive Director"

3 kids from my school already got in. I can smell the deferral.

@Shady Emails/Decisions are still going out

@cali congrats! Was there anything on your WA prior to receiving the acceptance email?

so have we actually figured out whether or not the wolverine access decisions being there means anything? If there’s nothing, does that essentially mean deferral?

I still haven’t received anything…all of my friends got theirs…I am getting really nervous…Is this a bad sign?

i’m really sad/disappointed but do you think i can write to Mich and tell them about my gpa (the extenuating circumstances that cause it to be so low)? there’s a steep upward trend but i can’t show why my freshman and sophomore year was so bad on my application and i feel like i really need to explain myself

No one freak out

Decisions are still going out

All kinds of decisions
