Official Columbia University Early Decision 2016 Thread

@poopunicorns, if it makes you feel better, Questbridge applicants have to turn in their applications about a month earlier than normal ED applicants.

It doesn’t make me feel better. :(

so what are you guys expecting… lol

1 less spot for us non-questbridge applicants…

@mustangman - I have a lot of friends who go to UT, they all seem to love it. My parents, siblings, two of my uncles, one of my cousins, and future brother-in-law all went to A&M though, I bled maroon up until middle school when I realized that I didn’t want to go to school in Texas haha. Or in the South. …or in the West. Really anywhere that’s not in the Northeast. :P

I’ve become zen after having a minor panic attack last Wednesday. Thursday will come when it does, and if I (or anyone) doesn’t get in, it wasn’t meant to be. We’ll all end up where we’re supposed to be. <3

im trying to mentally prepare myself for the rejection though, but no matter how hard I try, I doubt I’ll be fully prepared for it!

my parents have already started prepping me for rejection lol

I agree with @theamazingemz, if we are rejected, it must mean that we weren’t meant to go to Columbia. Perhaps bigger and better things are waiting for us elsewhere.

“hope for the best. Prepare for the worst.” We’ve all heard that before. I guess it means keep working on those other applications. Then there is “the power of positive thinking.” I guess that means take a brake on the apps until Friday.

I’ve already been rejected from Columbia 6 times (I graduated from high school in 2004 and have applied ED each year since then), and I can say that it hurts every time. Here’s hoping that the 7th time’s the charm. eh?

trying to focus…on other apps, lol

@tobiasfunkeblue

OMG. Seriously? The adcoms need to see your commitment to Columbia! Holy moly! Seven is my lucky number and hopefully, it’ll be yours too!

Am I the only one who has not paid any attention to the other apps for the last month or so…? I gave up applying to Berkeley half cause I didn’t want to pay the fee before I heard from Columbia and half because I couldn’t get excited about it while I didn’t have my ED decision…

I didn’t even start on my other apps yet.

■■■.

i could hardly get myself to apply for the UCs as well, but @neiro6, the deadline was 30th…u knew that right? lol

@nebbalish- Yeah, I really haven’t either, other than the free application to Drexel and any short answers that are the same/similar to my other short answers.

But hey, the Dartmouth supplement doesn’t have any writing on it, so technically we’ve all completed that application, we just need to pay the fee haha.

@redconfetti Yeah, I decided not to finish my final essay over the Thanksgiving weekend… I would have felt really dumb to waste $70 on a school I probably wouldn’t go to anyways cause of prohibitively priced plane tickets and then get into Columbia.

I’ve finished most of my stuff for GWU, but I feel like that’s a safety… need to work on the harder ones.

If we are rejected, it means we weren’t meant to go to Columbia?!?!?! Hogwash, I tell ya! If we are rejected, it means we weren’t meant to go to Columbia until grad school. Just for a personal anecdote, my dad was rejected from Harvard for undergrad, and sure enough attended their med school.

@theamazingemz, hook 'em! Texas fight and it’s goodbye to a&m, no really, it is goodbye.

Grad school… it’ll be my fourth round of competitive admissions for school. D: Whyyyyy?!

lol, can you imagine what the admissions process will be like in 10 years…or even 5 years…

@mustangman- Oh definitely, I meant not meant for CU undergrad haha. If I’m rejected, I’m definitely applying there for law school.
