I’m applying to Adirondack Community College (switching to a four year school in two years) and the site says to send in the application, an official copy of my GED, and the admissions fee in.

My brother says to mail in the money as a cashier’s check

But he says to just photocopy my GED and send that. Is that what I should do? If I take the GED up to the school will they make a copy of it I can use? Is the one I have in my hands just a copy, or the official one, like with birth certificates? If I send that one in, and then ask for a new one from where I got my GED, will it look exactly the same?

I’m just worried that I won’t get the GED copy in time if I have to order one, since they stop accepting applications in september (I know, applying late, but my school counselor told me back in May that ACC stopped accepting applications for this fall, but I found out this month that was a lie! )

So…help? I’m very naive. I’ve got my FAFSA filled out so I don’t have to worry about that (my brother helped me out)
