@khagedorn96 maybe my essay would have totally gotten me in. i should have asked the admissions officer about that lol.

T minus 70 hours: beginning to show mild signs of sleep deprivation, anxiety levels building, and unable to remain focused.

Wait did everyone here that applied to ILR go to the info sesh? I just remembered that when I went in October they said they love when applicants send them food in the mail. Like cookies and fudge and stuff. Maybe I should have done that lol

Can I point out that in my area Cornell is often seen as the lowliest Ivy (even though Brown is ranked after it) but businessweek puts it ahead of both Brown and Columbia. Do you guys have similar experiences? I don’t get it. Cornell, to me, has the greatest breadth of offerings and the most diverse population. I would consider it as good as Penn and as good as HYP for everything but prestige. Thoughts?

@tblegend97 really, I should have done that lol. On top of the lid of the cookie plater, I would’ve put a youtube link to a 90 minute video of myself talking about why I belong at Cornell and how I plan to name my kids Ezra lol.

@khagedorn96 I agree, a lot of people don’t even know it’s an Ivy league. However among people who actually know about upper education, it is very highly regarded. Only the people who just recognize the names “Harvard, Yale, Princeton” look down upon Cornell. Anyways take ranking with a grain of salt, I’ve seen Cornell ranked as high as 7 to as “low” as mid 30s

Edit: I can almost guarantee anyone who looks down upon Cornell as an inferior Ivy league couldn’t get in themselves. Most people that are of “Ivy caliber” know Cornell is an excellent school.

70 hours… Oh my goodness… Oh my goodness…

@khagedorn96 I believe Cornell is seen as the “pseudo” Ivy is because of it’s “high” acceptance rate compared to the other Ivys, which is still super low at, what, 14%? My sister goes to Penn and says she’s sure it’s just as hard (she’s an International Relations major and works for Goldman Sachs as a paid intern in the summer. There’s a strong possibility that they’ll offer her a job when she graduates in 2016) The people that say Cornell is the easiest Ivy are just trying to make themselves feel better about the possibility of not getting in to such a prestigious school.

IMO, if you are going to uni to major in literature, east asian studies and what not, it is very useless. IMO, the best universities are those that have the best STEM programs, Cornell of which is the best in the ivy league. Therefore, to me, Cornell is the best ivy. I may get a lot of hate, but thats how i feel.

@khagedom96 I live in the deep south and around here Cornell is not well known. Most of the people in my town went to our state flagship. For example, my friend’s brother chose our state’s honor program over Princeton. School loyalty is big in my town. However, Cornell is seen as a lowly ivy. If you look in the forum, a lot of people say Cornell is the easiest Ivy to get into and thats why they want to apply. The reason why Cornell is viewed so “low” is because of the other schools that it is compared to. In comparison to HYP, Cornell’s endowment is tiny. One of my interviewers for a different school advised me NOT to apply to Cornell (he didn’t know I was EDing at Cornell) because of their endowment.

Princeton has a very good math program, but overall, Cornell has princeton beat in STEM

Applying to CALS but ugh, i doubt i convinced them with my horrible stats and gpa. And the fact that 40 people from y grade are applying ED doesn’t really help. AT ALL.

Lol the endowments these schools get are a lot, Cornell gets like 2-3 billion, University of Toronto has like a 100-200 million dollar endowment

and thats the most in canada

@manas1997 Cornell has 6.2billion. I found it funny how their endowment did the second worst with “only” 15.4% returns. 15.4% returns is crazy!! Especially since they must invest their endowment conservatively.

@manas1997 Compared to HYP and our state flagship, Cornell’s $5 billion is tiny. My state system has a total endowment of $20 billion.

i find that weird that people think cornell is a bad school? if i encountered someone like that, I would sass him or her off.

All of my friends are EDing at HYPSM. Good news for me lol.

@acceptmeed your sass is fantastic. i’d do the same 100%

Only one other person aside from me applied to Cornell from my small school and Im really curious to know who it is.
