Official Cornell Class of 2019 Early Decision

do you guys know if financial aid is need blind for international students?

Yeah I do not have the optional report checked off…

@missartsygirl Financial aid is need blind only for US applicants. There is relatively little financial aid for international students.

@brooklynilene‌ thats what i thought too :frowning: i didn’t apply for it cause I thought i would never get in if i applied for financial aid

@Kungpaoasian‌ Checked off where - portal or CA? Do you know that your GC sent it in?

I thought Canada and Mexico were also needblind? Or is that a diff school

@Cornell19‌ i have no idea… I’m Canadian. i just didn’t apply just to be safe

I have the optional report checked off in the CA. We go by terms (semesters), quarter grades are usually just for internal use, but Q1’s are forwarded on to ED/EA universities.

@hopefulrm The CA. I know she sent in my transcript, but we go by semesters here instead of quarters. I’ll ask her tomorrow if she sent any of my grades from this year.

I mean if they wanted them, I think they would have called or something. There isn’t any point worrying now I guess…

@Kungpaoasian‌ My school goes by semesters too, but my counselor just got all my current grades from my teachers. You have checks on your CA? In the Recommender section? Mine just says the dates everything was downloaded.

Just dates on the CA. Checks on the Portal.

I had mine sent as well.

@Kungpaoasian If they were concerned, they’d have called your GC. I’m sure yours didn’t drop off, def. don’t sweat it.

For internationals, does not applying to aid come as an advantage?

@manas1997‌ i don’t think its an advantage necessarily but applying for it will probably hurt your app

@missartsygirl‌ @manas1997‌ It will be advantageous compared to other international applications I’m pretty sure. You will still be at a disadvantage compared to US applicants however.

@Connor2019 Well that’s a scary thought :-SS

Actually @manas1997‌, I don’t believe it will make a difference. Need blinds admissions means that the people reviewing your application have absolutely no idea of whether or not you applied for financial aid. If two students with the same exact credentials apply, but one can pay the full tuition, and the other can pay none of the tuition, they will both have the same exact chance.

@artisticnative what’s a scary thought?
