Official Cornell Class of 2019 Early Decision

I agree with @quartzz, but would think that spending the summer doing research, volunteering in the community, or holding down a job would all prove to be more rewarding.

I think I gotta wake up at 3:30 am on 12th to view my results. fingers crossed :stuck_out_tongue:

@12345n Are you from India?

@LooneyToon yup haha :slight_smile: I think that sort of hinders my chances a bit though. Where are you from?

any canadians here ? :slight_smile:

i disagree, i am sure attending cornell summer will help even if its a tiny bit

Does anyone know if I’m categorized as a domestic or an international for Cornell ED?
I’m a U.S. citizen but I’ve lived in Asia almost my whole life and attended an american international school haha
I know I’m a domestic for Financial Aid…but idk about admission…hope I am…

@12345n I’m from India too!

@LooneyToon Omigosh yay! It’s so nice to know I’m not alone in this :slight_smile: What major are you applying for?

Haha. I’m from India too @Looneytoom @12345n. Applying for physics/chemistry + creative writing? What about you two?

@BetterThanBest‌ @12345n‌ I’m applying for Computer Science, but I’m hoping to minor in Cognitive Science too.

@jamesjunkers idk man I think it has to do with feeling like I would just be completely done with the application process. also idt I’m going to do that well anyways.

@BetterThanBest @12345n @LooneyToon Hey, another Indian here :stuck_out_tongue: Although I’ve lived my whole life in the UAE. Applying for Physics and Math, and might minor in astronomy

@missartsygirl Im canadian, from Pickering ON, applying as an independent major in CoE, trying to study both math and comp. sci from an engineering perspective.

@pringles97 you’re in the domestic pool. Your academic record , of course, will be evaluated in the context of your HS, which may differ from typical US high schools. But that’s no different than some kid who applies from a unique HS here in the states. You’re 100% fine.

@T26E4 We read applications based on where you currently attend school, rather than by your citizenship status. Your application will be read with others from the school you attend and those from the same state (U.S.) or country. This is what Cornell says… does that mean I’m being compared to other Koreans kids since I live in Korea? o.o but I’m still in the domestic pool?

pringles: you attend an international school right? The avg S Korean kid, attempting to apply to a US/UK/Cdn uni is not your classmate – it’s the kids of other expats and diplomats right? You’re compared to the kids in your school. If you’ve excelled from among them (and the history previous applicants that Cornell is aware of), then you’re fine. You’re NOT in competition with say, the single best handful of Korean kids from prep schools (Daewon, Minjok) applying to Ivies this year.

You can’t assume anything except that your chances are ~25% unless you’re an athlete who made a verbal agreement with a coach

@Looneytoon @betterthanbest Economics+Psychology at CAS :)

@LooneyToon‌ I am Indian too :smile:
