Official Cornell Class of 2019 Regular Decision Applicants!!!!!

*****havn’t responded yet.

@valed123, call admissions. It’s 10x faster.

Has anyone received a Cornell likely yet?

whats a likely?

@valed123
likely = likely letter - - early notification of acceptance, only sent to small percentage of applicants for specific reasons (athlete, URM, extremely qualified, etc.)

@jamesjunkers‌
ahh when do they usually go out? No shot i get one though.

@valed123 - I believe Cornell usually sends them early March (people are anxious because Penn just sent them); it’s best not to expect one, the large majority of acceptances do not get likely’s

@jamesjunkers‌
Yea I’m not expecting one, do you know how long Cornell takes to respond to emails? I’m still contemplating whether I should call them or not.

@valed123: Call. 100% worst part of Cornell I’d their ability to respond to emails. They give you 50 different email addresses (admissions, specific school admissions, regional rep, etc), and none of them respond. Just call.

^ That’s funny. I always get responses if I email. :stuck_out_tongue: But yeah a very small percentage of people get likely letters.

Thoughts? Daughter thinks it is a long shot but she did have a great alumni network interview. She applied to College of sciences first choice and Engineering physics second choice.

Subjective:
Hook (if any): Female Track athlete contacted personally by coach? EC’s were over 290+ hours
Location/Person: OOS
State or Country:
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: Cauc
Gender: Female
major strength/weakness :National Merit Finalist, AP Scholar with distinction, 4 year letter varsity athlete two sports and national award winner for Women in computing. Has programming and cyber security certs. but doesn’t want to go into Comp Sci. Could have much stronger Math Sat and SAT 2’s. No good research experience because of living in a small town. Not enough time for leadership other than in sports and a few clubs.

It seems it’s the year for strong STEM applicants to get likelies, almost all the people getting likelies from Penn, Columbia are strong STEM applicants with stellar stats and EC’s.

@saismom‌, your daughter’s stats look very strong to me. No one can say for sure, but I think she has a good chance. Is she from an underrepresented state (just curious when you say OOS).

FL so no I don’t think so. We are not in an underrepresented socioeconomic group either. Fingers crossed for good financial aid!

can someone remind me when does decision come out?

@minminminmin‌ March 31st!!

Could anyone give some insight on ILR admissions and how much of the class is filled ED vs. RD? I applied RD to ILR and its a reach for me, but I would attend if offered admission. Thanks.

edit: Also, I have submitted all financial aid documents that Cornell requires before the deadline. My portal still shows that they have yet to be submitted and when I called admissions and the office of financial aid, they said that it can take up to 10 days and did not check for my information personally. It has been exactly 10 days since I submitted- should I pursue this further by calling again?

^don’t worry too much about that - even if they haven’t gotten it (which is unlikely), the only penalty to submitting late is getting your financial aid decision a bit later. Just relax.

@cakeandtears what are the status shown on your IDOC site? If they all shows available to colleges, then Cornell may get them soon

guys, i need help.
I thought we only needed to submit FAFSA and CSS to apply for financial aid??
But the To Do List says I need to submit tax return as well by February 15th??
I asked my dad and he said he didn’t submit any tax return for 2014 since its due April. Am I not getting any financial aid then?
