any one else on the east coast freaking out that they haven’t gotten a letter/heard back? wondering if this means rejection or if there is another round of acceptance letters! Has anybody called admissions???
Received my acceptance to ILR yesterday which was completely unexpected. I put down an alternate as well so I don’t think that matters as long as you can show you’d fit in to both programs.
@brandy456 I’m in the same boat as you! Hopefully there’s another wave, or some people will still get accepted but won’t get the early letter!!
I’m not speaking in absolutes of course. But I know some people that human ecology and ILR just to get into Cornell and I’m referring to them lol.
@somuchsuspense19 i am happy that we are in the same situation! best of luck and I’m hoping we hear in a second round! did you apply to hotel school?
@brandy456 I am in the same boat and applied SHA. Hopefully we do get another round of letters sent out… Hoping or anything but a rejection. Even a waitlist would probably mean a GT option.
oh wow @Janizary and @somuchsuspense19 were either or you deferred? or located on the east coast?
@brandy456 I am east coaster and applied RD.
Right back at you @brandy456 I actually applied to ILR, but I feel your pain right now! My GC just sent in my grades (my school is on trimesters) and the admissions guy I talked to from ILR said I would still be considered if that helps!! I feel like there has to be a second wave
okay that does help a bit! i have semesters at my school but it is good to hear that Cornell is still looking at applicants! hoping to be admitted soon! @somuchsuspense19
and oh okay @Janizary we are still in the same boat!
I also feel like they’re sending out rejections/waitlists as well, because it would be kind of mean to keep those people in the dark!
Agreed @brandy456 ! It is also very possible that for whatever reason you didn’t get a letter, but when you log on to the portal you’ll be accepted!! I’m sure that’s happened before!
Sorry to triple comment, but the Northeast also just experienced a snowstorm! Since the first people just posted that they heard back yesterday, it’s also possible your letters are coming sometime next week @brandy456 @Janizary
I hope it isn’t too optimistic or naive of me to hope that I might just have an ILR letter in my mailbox tomorrow… though I will likely just end up with a rejection towards the end of March instead! I’m from the northeast and ILR acceptances seem to have arrived in my rough geographic area. Fingers crossed, but not confidently. Good luck everyone
I with you guys as well^^
Hate to be a downer, but judging from previous posts, I feel like this is the only early wave of ILR/Hotel admissions. Maybe it’ll come in the next two or three days if you live far from Ithaca. On the bright side, we still have a chance on Ivy Day (3/31)!
This 5-month wait is agonizing…
@caketears @airspirit @somuchsuspense19 @brandy456
I honestly don’t think there will be another wave of acceptances… only waitlists and rejections coming on Ivy Day. It’s nice to make excuses for the unreceived letter, but the odds are against us. You have to remember that ILR and Hotel are both really selective. The snow storm is unlikely to have delayed mail by a full five days. The USPS, as crappy as it is, usually gets mail in 2-3 days. Any letter that was sent out should have arrived by today. Anyhow, good luck guys. I hope we do get in to Cornell.
@Janizary Unfortunately, I agree. I think I probably have even a lower chance, considering I was deferred. Personally, I just want anything but a waitlist. I’m so tired of this waiting game.
@airspirit I disagree with you that you have a lower chance. I think that initially applying ED shows commitment towards the school. I think you should at least get a GT option. They tend to offer that for qualified, but deferred ED applicants.
@Janizary Thanks man, I appreciate it!
@somuchsuspense19 - Cornell doesn’t send out early rejections or waitlists. Any sort of admission decision for ILR/SHA before Ivy Day is going to be an acceptance. With that said, ** not hearing from Cornell this week does not mean you’re out of the running. ** These two schools in particular, along with Penn’s School of Nursing, conduct rolling admissions and notify some accepted applicants ahead of the official date. The vast majority of people will hear back on the 31st this year, so don’t sweat it.
