My first thoughts were why would they call if they weren’t interested in her. But, you never know and I don’t want to get her hopes up if it was just a routine phone call. Stats - SAT 2130 (CR+ math 1370), 98 unweighted GPA, many EC including leadership positions, BU RISE program. Cornell is a reach for her b/c of her SAT but is her first choice. Has anyone else heard anything ie. phone call from human ecology?
@lisaol: I’m not trying to argue with you. I agree that it probably is an acceptance. However, I just advice applicants to proceed with caution - I have a friend who got all the signs of acceptance form their #1 (phone call, invitation to apply for honors, email from admissions counselor, etc.) and then they got waitlisted. I’m sure that’s not the norm, but it is something to be weary of.
@FriskySquirrel: Maybe he applied to CAS with ILR as an alternate, and was admitted to ILR? That’s my only guess.
I agree!! I am not saying a word to her…just even more anxious!! My heart goes out to her and all the kids that have worked so hard and now are sitting and waiting. What a stressful time - hopefully it will end in good news for all!!!
Same to you @2girls2015

Can you point me to last year’s thread you are referring to? Thank you!
Okay, everyone has been asking the exact same questions a billion times in the past few days, so I figured I'd post this, giving some answers to commonly asked questions. Note that all information I'm giving is either from information found on the Cornell website, or posts in past years RD Discussion Threads.

[ul][]Decisions for ILR and Hotel come on a rolling basis throughout the month of March. If you did not receive an acceptance letter yet, it does not mean you were rejected. There will most likely be another wave (or two) as the weeks progress, and some people will receive acceptances on Ivy Day (tentatively March 31). Acceptances for ILR and Hotel are not likely letters - you will get a letter via snail mail congratulating you, and your acceptance will be posted on your portal on Ivy Day.
[]Decisions for CAS, CALS, AAP, Human Ecology, Engineering will not come until Ivy Day. Do not expect a letter now, it will not come.
[li]Likely letters may come out in mid-March. Last year, likely letters were sent via email and via snail mail on March 14. The majority of the recipients were URM. There is no way of knowing if it will be the same this year. Do not get upset if you don't get a likely letter. The majority of acceptances will not be a likely letter. [/ul]
[/li] **[size=6]Good Luck Everyone! It will all work out!I just received a letter saying that I was accepted to ILR and I just wanted to say not to worry too much about stats and trying to predict whether you got in or not at this point. By all standards I’ve read on here I should not have been accepted, but I was. It really is holistic, trying to predict decisions just isn’t worth the stress. Good luck to everyone!
@darkray2000 Don’t worry I understand, I’m from New Jersey! CA, NY, and NJ are definitely some of the most competitive states. But that being said, don’t let competitiveness get you down! Beat the odds, it’s possible
@somuchsuspense19 They were official acceptance letters! Standard envelope. I didn’t think much of it until I opened it up and read it. Did you also apply to ILR?
Accepted to ILR, i thought it was a financial aid request or something, the envelope was so small. I just got it yesterday despite being fairly close to NJ - snow is definitely a factor. My essay wasn’t great IMO, same with the interview/information session thing. Good Sats and extracurriculars, decent grades. I really think it was holistic, if that helps!
@ByGraceThruFaith Thanks so much!
Got accepted to SHA!! I recieved the mail in my mailbox just now. I cannot believe this is happening…
Congrats!
@heo199kor Congrats! I hope I get that kind of envelope for CAS in 24 days!
@heo199kor Congrats! Give us some color what region are you from your background?
In absolute shock, just received my acceptance to ILR. I’m from Colorado. Good luck/congrats to everyone else!
Has anyone in the southeast heard yet?
