It seems like so many people are getting liklies… How much are my odds reduced by not getting one?

Today they sent my itinerary for my flight up there. While I had the lady on the phone I took the opportunity to confirm that what I received in the email was an actual acceptance to Cornell, and she said yes.

I also asked her if I should receive something more formal in the mail and she said that I should receive some type of post card first and then on the 31st the official acceptance letter will go out.

I can’t wait to see the official letter.

That’s weird. Is this the likely letter you guys got?

Dear XXXXX,

I am writing to let you know that the admissions selection committee has completed its review of your application for admission to Cornell University. Although the Ivy League member institutions will not officially notify Regular Decision applicants of their decision until March 31, it may help you with your planning to know that you will be admitted to Cornell University.

The letter goes on about attending Cornell Days.

However, I applied to engineering (MechE) but nowhere in the letter says that I was accepted to the engineering school?

Mine is slightly different BUT the key part is that it says you WILL be admitted.

I’m not sure who sent yours, but if they have a contact number on it, perhaps you can call them and confirm it.

@HappyCamper2015, The Director of Undergraduate Admissions sent mine. I will call them tomorrow to confirm. Thanks and good luck everyone!

I applied to the AAP for architecture, and the letter doesn’t say I was accepted to the architecture programme. However, I got an email From the architecture department inviting me to visit the AAP and all that. So I assume I got into architecture, since that was the only major I applied to

Cornell actually sent me a physical letter stating that I will be admitted to Cornell University for the Class of 2019. This was 3 days after I got the likely email.

@EMPire18, that’s a good idea. They just asked my name, birthdate and email and then confirmed that I was accepted.

Good luck!

@k4vglitcher, my email came on the 11th, but I have not received anything in the mail yet. But, I guess the post card will come soon.

I’m looking forward to seeing what their acceptance package looks like.

A likely email? I only got the physical letter. I will definitely call tomorrow. I hope this letter isn’t some mistake.

Mine says:

Dear [name],

I am writing to let you know how much the Cornell Engineering Admissions Committee enjoyed reading your application. Your academic and personal achievements are outstanding and, although the Ivy League schools won’t officially notify students of their admission decisions until the end of the month, I am pleased to inform you that you are very likely to be admitted to Cornell.

and then it discusses the Spring Women in Engineering program and Cornell Days. I think it’s specific to female engineers. It came by email.

@hopefulperson‌ I got the same email as you did. Now since people are getting actual confirmation of their acceptance, do you think our lls still mean that we are accepted? I am just starting to get anxious now… :((

I WANT A LIKELY T___T

@Shadoww A current female engineering student in the Cornell '19 Facebook group said that she got the same email last year and was admitted. I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t have talked about WIE or Cornell Days if they weren’t going to accept us.

Hey has anyone who got the likely letter for women in engineering received an actual physical acceptance letter? It seems like the ppl who got the diversity likely letter have already received physical acceptance letters.

My dad’s colleague went to Cornell for her undergrad. Though she was wait listed after a likely letter from UPenn, she’s never heard of anything like that happening at Cornell. At this point, it would be cruel for them to not let us in, given how I’ve already decided on a dorm, looked up malls near Ithaca and set the move in day into my calendar

13more days :open_mouth:

Likely letters, at all Ivy’s, are basically stating that unless you were arrested or expelled or caught cheating, etc., you are in! And Penn doesn’t waitlist students who received likely letters unless the student did something inappropriate. There is something not right about that story.
