@langgirl2 congrats!!! nervously awaiting march 31, but do you know of any others that have come later like yours?
hey guys, do you know how much weight a spectacular interview carries? I know everyone gets an interview and it won’t be make or break but my interview was great (i had a mid-aged man and he cried after i told him my life story and why i want to attend cornell…literally cried LOL) and so I’m hoping that if he puts in a good word it’ll carry some more weight perhaps and give my application an edge? hopefully someone can clarify whether I’m putting too much hope into this interview or not.
sorry if this was answered earlier, i don’t really want to sift through 58 pages haha
@imsoworried it depends for what major you applied. I applied to the AAP for architecture, and they require an interview, I have to meet with an alumni near my place if I can’t go to Ithaca, so I think the interview for them was super important. And even though I thought it was kind of awkward at times haha, I think it went okay. And I got accepted to Cornell, so yeah.
And don’t worry, at this point I procrastinate a lot, I’m about to get my first B in my transcript which is kind of horrible :c
@mollii4 wow congrats! thanks for the input haha fingers crossed that my interview will pull through for me!
Good luck! Hopefully it will c:
I TALKED ABOUT VICTORIA SECRET MODELS IN MY INTERVIEW WITH ONE OF THE PROFESSORS ON CAMPUS LOL
BALL
IS
LIFE
Hahahaha, I laughed too much about this.
My interview was a huge adventure. I live 30 minutes from Dallas, so I had to drive there, by myself. And I left my house an hour before the interview just to be there on time. And I got lost for 25 minutes haha so I got there 5 minutes before the interview. And the guards didn’t want to let me in, so we called the architect haha, and he got there 15 minutes later. We had the interview at his office, at a 45 story, so the elevator part was interesting, I screamed a little, and he stared at me haha. The view of Dallas from his office was awesome, he told me the name of the architects that designed some buildings, and then he quizzed me. It was fun, then I got lost again and just went to In n Out ha
@hutchmemphis @ThePolar I emailed Cornell a few weeks ago and they said there was only one wave of ILR decisions (sent out 3/2). The rest will be on Ivy Day. They claim that “all types of decisions will be released,” so it’s still possible to receive an acceptance. However, looking back on many past CC threads, I unfortunately couldn’t find an ILR applicant who actually got an acceptance on Ivy Day without an early notification, which makes me a bit nervous. Many ED deferred ILRies were offered the GT option on Ivy Day, though. This isn’t surprising especially since transfers make up a huge portion of ILR.
I guess we can just only hope for the best. Good luck guys!
@airspirit I’m sure there will be a handful amount of people who get into into SHA and ILR on Ivy Day. However, the odds are slim due to most of the seats already being accepted. You have to remember the schools are minuscule and only about 200 people get in.
is a nomination for Dean Tanner Scholarship considered a likely?
How many likelies are given out each year?
FWIW, I didn’t get an interview Kinda a bummer, haha.
I guess we should just stop worrying about likelies now, just little over a week… I have been on this thread for awhile, and could see many highly motivated students. I really really hope we all get in!
With just 9 days to go, I'll start my customary "good luck, we'll all end up where we belong, blah blah blah" post.
By coming on CC, you’ve basically acknowledged that you have a shot at Cornell, or whatever your dream school may be. Keep in mind, these are some of the hardest schools in the country - if not the world - to get into. Only a select few of the thousands of applicants applying are given the honor of an acceptance. As much as it sucks, in 9 days from now, the majority of us are not going to hear what we want to hear. Dreams will be crushed. Tears will be shed. But as much as you loved Cornell, you’ll find another school to love. I’m sure you’ve all been accepted to some wonderful schools that the majority of students would die for. Don’t take this for granted. You are the smartest of the smart. You are the most motivated. You are the future of America. So yeah, when we open our decisions in 9 days, some of us will be given the opportunity of a life time, while some of us will be heartbroken. To those who are accepted, congratulations! That is so amazing. But be kind to those rejected / wait listed, be careful of what you say. To those rejected, I’m so sorry. But you have to move on. If Cornell is truly your #1, you can consider transferring, but don’t waste your freshman year hoping you’ll go to Cornell. Maybe the rejection will turn into a good thing - maybe the school you choose will be the right place for you. To those wait listed, you have a tough decision in front of you. Do you want to keep up hope, or do you want to move on? Nearly everyone wait listed is ultimately rejected, do you want to take that risk, or do you just want to find a different place? Again, best of luck to all of you. Win or lose, we will all end up where we belong.
Man between @jamesjunkers and @emenya I’ve got enough motivation for the next four years. Thanks guys!!
@jamesjunkers Thank you so much for your post! I agree 100%.
Just to add on to what jamesjunkers said, there are so many people out there who were rejected to their top choices, but ultimately thrived more at other places. Steven Spielberg, for example, got rejected from USC three times or something, and look at what he has accomplished. College is what you make of it, so wherever you go, thrive and shine! And remember, there’s always grad school. Good luck guys!
I would to like just add on, I applied to Cornell about 2 years ago as a high school senior and I did not get in; however, just because you do not get into XYZ college does not mean you will not be successful in life. Whatever college/university you end up at, you should make the most of it because these next 4 years will fly by.
[I am applying to Cornell as a transfer student for the Fall 2015 admissions, so I am hoping I get in, if not it is whatever]
I dont care about that ‘you will end up where you belong’ garbage
