I have not yet
Does anyone know when Cornell will send us our free shirt? It would be convenient to have it by next month.
My daughter (ED) got hers about two weeks after decisions came out. She had to put an order in for it. It was not sent to her automatically.
This is really odd… So on Tuesday, I received my rejection. Then on Thursday, I received an email that says that they are offering me a transfer position for the 2016-2017 year. I am completely confused!!! Anyone receive something similar?
@ Songbird325, although I did not receive the transfer option (mine was a direct acceptance) I’ve seen several posts that talk about a guaranteed transfer option. I think it has something to do with going to a junior college, taking specific classes, maintaining a specific GPA and then I think Cornell will give you the opportunity to transfer to the university.
I’m not sure if this is what you received or not, but you can find some information on what I mentioned above here:
You may have to do some searching here on CC to find the current year’s information, but I wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide to do!
It can be a 4-year college; it is not limited to 2-year colleges.
@skieurope, Thanks!!
With a 4 year college being an option, that opens up even more opportunities for any GT applicants.
I do not know the rules or details of the GT offer, but being able to attend a 4 year college while preparing to transfer, gives an applicant the opportunity to try out the #2 school on their list, and then transfer to Cornell (especially if it was their #1 choice) if things do not work out. That’s pretty nice!
@caffeinemolecule, where do you find the details for the free t-shirt? @annwank, how did you order it?
@NJProParent There was a link you can go to in the acceptance letter where you can find the page for the free shirt.
@caffeinemolecule you should get it before you arrive for Cornell Days
Whoops! Just noticed the typo in my last post. It should’ve been Tanner Dean’s Scholars.
@HappyCamper2015 : I received my official acceptance package in the mail. But I’m wondering if there’s more to come. It only contained the official acceptance letter and the ‘Welcome’ brochure and had no information on financial aid. Besides, it was mailed on the same day (31st March).
@ Tarlana, The only financial aid information that I’ve received has been online. I’m not sure if Cornell will send anything that’s more official in the mail or not. Some of my other acceptances have mailed a duplicate of what was online, but others have not.
However, if it’s online for you to view, most of the schools will allow you to download it and print it.
Viewing it online would indeed be more convenient. However the ‘Admitted International Students’ section on this webpage-- http://www.finaid.cornell.edu/apply-aid/newly-admitted-students – states that those selected will receive their decision with the packet, while those who aren’t will be notified by e-mail. I was wondering because I haven’t received either. Guess all I can do is wait.
@Tarlana, I’m sorry to hear that you have not received the financial aid information yet. I know the waiting can be frustrating. I only had a very short wait and I was quite anxious to view mine.
Good luck and I hope it comes soon.
@HappyCamper2015 : Haha. Yes, indeed. By the way, which college? CAS?
And thanks for bothering to respond to my queries…
Hey guys. For those who deposited already, did you receive your NetID? I deposited a few days ago and haven’t received an email to activate my NetID.
In a few days I’ll be visiting Cornell and sitting in on a few classes. Would it be more appropriate to bring a backpack to class or could I just bring a casual handbag? I don’t really know how this works.
Nobody uses a handbag on a college campus. Backpack.
@ caffeinemolecule, what about just bringing a tablet or a spiral notebook and a pencil or pen?
If you have a chance, please make sure to check back in and let us know what you think of the classes. Enjoy!
