Official December SAT 2 World History 2011 Discussion

Did anyone else think that this test was hard? It was DEFINITELY harder than the practice tests collegeboard released, which I expected, but still.

What did people put for the quote about the oath to the lord? I knew the answer was feudalism, but none of the choices matched that. It was either bureaucracy or personal bonds…

I was stuck on that question too. I picked personal bonds because it seemed more appropriate but I’m not 100% on that :frowning:
What did people get for the picture with the black guys in European clothes and face jewelry? There was some ridiculous answer about hats, something about equal status with Europeans, something about being willing to negotiate and the one I picked which was that their bearing of spears showed their military prowess. I was really unsure about this question but the caption under the picture called them warriors, so that was what I based my answer off. It was a last ditch effort though :(

The question was which one of the answers did the picture NOT imply, so I chose the hats one. All the other things were like “wearing jewelry/clothes/spears to show wealth/equal status/military prowess” so I thought those made sense… with the hats I just thought it didn’t make any sense at all…

What about the major consequence of the Neolithic revolution? I chose population increase, but I was torn between that and increased leisure time.

OMG it said not? I really hate myself.
I was also stuck between those answers but I chose increased leisure time because didn’t agriculture mean less people had to spend most of their time finding food and could go into other cratfs?

Eeeesh, I know. That’s why I was so torn between the two answers; they both made total sense. The way I reasoned it was that increased leisure time meant job specialization which meant less leisure time, if you get what I mean… like they didn’t spend all day lazing around, they started blacksmithing and building and irrigating and etc.

There was one question about the official religion of this empire… was the empire Sassanid or Safavid? If it was Safavid like my friends said I’m going to feel really stupid.

Tell me about it! I thought I was gonna have a nervous breakdown because of some of these questions.
It was definitely the Sassanid Empire and the answer was definitely Zoroastrianism and I definitely got this question wrong because I chose Islam :(

I know! Usually I’m okay with tests but this time I kept stressing out and have this gut feeling that I really screwed up.

I omitted 5 and got at least 2 wrong and probably got a lot more wrong :((((((
When can everyone start compiling questions and answers like they did for the June SAT for World History?

I have a strong feeling that I’m gonna retake this test in June. I was so confident too :frowning: I figured if I got a 5 on the AP World exam in sophomore year then taking this test would be effortless midway through junior year. Suffice to say this is not so. While the AP exam covered only major regions of the world, this test asked about the most random things, like that Burmese lady with the long name.
For this test, they do give a generous curve. Even if you get 12-15 questions wrong, you’d still get like a 780-790. So if I were you I wouldn’t worry. If I were me, on the other hand, I would :(

I guess I’ll start this off. These are the questions I had trouble with plus some of the easier ones I remembered.

and secondly could anybody tell me what is good score in world history? i mean and ivy league level score…for example in maths 2 i think 780+ is ivy level? compared to that please tell about world history???

A good score for World History is 780+ also, at least for the Ivy schools. The standard for WH is a bit higher even for non Ivies because it has such a generous curve
