Both of my parents went to community colleges, and I had a great interview (we talked for well over two hours, and my interviewer said I should hear definitely stay at Chicago over the weekend after I get in).

Uggghh… Now I have to chose between Williams and Chicago. A part of me was hoping to not get into any other schools after I got my early write, but, on the other hand, I never listen to him.

I just got my letter!

Decision: Accepted

[] major strength/weakness: Test scores and essays/grades.
[li] why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered: I honestly thought that I had enough personal stuff to balance out my grades… I guess the admissions office disagreed. I mean, it’s no mystery why I wasn’t admitted.[/li][/ul]Other Factors:

Actually, I’m a huge Schubert fan. He set the Goethe poem to music for piano and baritone. I highly recommend it if you haven’t heard it!

Decision: In
Stats:
SAT/ACT: 1410 680V730M
SAT IIs: Didn’t take
GPA: 3.6(?) Don’t be fooled. My freshmen GPA is 2.4
Rank: Top 24 percent. Again, don’t be fooled by simple numbers.
Other stats: What other stats?
Subjective:
Essays: I wrote the best essay I ever wrote in my life but I didn’t use it. For the essay I did use, I loved the idea behind it but the structure was crappy.
Teacher Recs: It can’t be bad right? I read them and they were pretty good.
Counselor Rec: No clue.
Hook (if any): The whole package.
Location/Person:
State or Country: New Jersey
School Type: Small, poor, and relatively terrible.
Ethnicity: 98.4 percent similar to Chimps.
Gender: Male

major strength/weakness: Dangerously ambitious/Dangerously ambitious

why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted: Brinestrom, my old archenemy, wrote me a message saying how much he’d hate to see me rejected. That might be the deciding factor.

Other Factors: Skyrocketing improvements on all personal and academic levels. The biggest factor is that I’m a moron. I implied everywhere I can that I am a moron to the admission officers. Indeed, I conceded that I needed professional help. You are also a moron (high school students), you just need to admit it.

APRIL FOOLS!! I’m in.

[] Rank: none
[] Other stats: Greatness
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Pwn.
[] Teacher Recs: Pwn. One of my teachers showed me his and he wrote something like “In my 35 years of teaching it is rare that I am so enthusiastic about one student…Ryan commands the respect of his peers in debate and constantly leads the discussions” etc.
[] Counselor Rec: Probably good, didn’t see it. But my counselor is a jerkoff.
[] Hook (if any): Greatness. Also, my job bagging groceries. As evidenced by me and Brinestorm, they seem to like that.

Chicago has to be one of the greatest schools solely because of the way they admit. You can’t get in by just being a nickle-nosed workaholic, you need true intellect. In fact, you can even put a minimal ammount of effort in throughout the pointlessness that is High School (like I did) and still have them recognize you for who you are, not how much of a slave you are.

“Natural ability without education has more often attained to glory and virtue than education without natural ability.” --Marcus Tullius Cicero

Well that’s a happy hat trick! Congrats to you all!

What the heck. I didn’t get my mail today (friday) in Cincinnati Ohio. Is my mailman lazy or what.

dudes, i bagged groceries too all last summer and they, the admission officers, know it. you juniors, i’m telling you, go bag groceries.

“In fact, you can even put a minimal ammount of effort in throughout the pointlessness that is High School (like I did) and still have them recognize you for who you are, not how much of a slave you are.”

That is so true. My 9th and 10th grade were spent playing online video games (Starcraft, Warcraft, Rise of Nations, and other statregy intensive war games), playing paintball (even though it could count as an EC since I’m the team captain), chilling out, and daydreaming. I never took an honors class but when I did, I trumped everybody including the Valedictorian who got in UPenn. The Valedictorian couldn’t even hold a conversation without looking stupid if he didn’t study for the conversation. My point is that high schools, especially the one I go to, suck.

To evitajr:
My parents didn’t even know were I applied to, all they know is that I got into the state university. They still don’t know so they are in for a good surprise. Your “D” is very lucky to have somebody to share her anxiety, haha.

YAY FOR EVERYONE! I can’t wait to meet you all next year. erlkonig: I love Schubert too! I’m a huge fan of the string quartets, specifically no. 15. As per the poem, I learned it in German class. It’s pretty spooky, I think.

Any EA kids getting any info???

also make sure you mention that scanning groceries made you learn what it was like to be a “proleteriat”
