*Official Deferred Class of 2016 Page*

people have been admitted with every deferral letter.

I feel like the majority of the acceptances I see are from the 1st and 2nd letter, but mainly the 1st.

There isn’t a correlation. If there ‘is one’ it is because a lot of applicants receive the first letter.

What do you mean there are different letters? I don’t remember what mine said haha…

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-michigan-ann-arbor/849639-three-types-deferral-letters.html

Apparently if your letter is signed by Theodore Spencer and not an admissions counselor, it is good. Also, if they don’t ask you for 7th semester grades, that is also good. It means that you are competitive.

Don’t bring this up again. An admissions counselor has confirmed this as false.

Oh. Jeez…sorry, I don’t read every single post on here. I have other things to do.

Does anyone have a copy of an acceptance email? What does it say and what is the title? Is the first word “CONGRATULATIONS!!!”?

Sorry, i didn’t mean to seem angry. We’ve had drama with that xD

NBD. This wait is killing me.

Well, if it helps, the email is titled no different than the deferral email. I don’t know what it says, as i don’t want to shuffle through posts for you and am waiting also.

If it helps anyone, I received Letter 1 back on February 10 and have not heard back at all after that. My ‘admissions counselor’ does not answer any of my emails or phone calls… It’s quite bothersome, really.

So I highly doubt the type of letter helps anything…

Have not heard a single thing since deferral email in Dec 2011. Posted mid year grades with UM. Have heard that others (at least 5) from my HS have received acceptances; most with lower GPAs, less honors/AP classes, lower SATs and about the same in ECs as me. Could it be that UM has misplaced/misfiled my application? Is it worth calling an admissions counselor? I’m OOS (CA), white male, and thought that I could get into UM with my stats, ECs and essays, based on stats from others that got accepted. If I didn’t know better, I would think that UM is choosing randomly as long as you are above a certain GPA and SAT score. Otherwise, it doesn’t make sense.

^same. most (seems like all but like 3 people) people at my school got accepted back in the first wave in February after being deferred EA in december. they didn’t do anything to show their continued interest. they simply waited it out and got accepted. i emailed my admissions counselor asking how to improve my app, and he said he simply wanted my 7th semester grades (this happened before the first wave). I sent the grades end of January/first week of February. thought i’d hear back in the first wave, but it seemed like the added information is taking them MONTHS to make a decision. gahhh. asdfghjkl;

after applying end of September and getting deferred EA in December, the wait is getting so very horrible. this is worse than torture, i tell you.

I either got the first letter or the 3rd letter…I don’t remember.

Just enjoy the rest of high school. There’s really nothing you can do about it now.

@LOTR1994: OOS (CA) too…I think there was a rumor running around that said there was a link between the region your from and the recent admissions waves. I doubt it’s true…? I figured my stats were strong enough and looking at the stats people post on here after being accepted, I felt so good about applying!

@chronome: Yeah. I pretty much gave up hope at the last huge wave. If I do get accepted, it’ll be a nice surprise. But even then, I think I’m going to have to reconsider where UMich stands on my college priority list after this whole mess -___-

Aweee haha!! I totally understand.

Wait, what? When was the last wave?

The last wave of acceptances was about a week ago, I think. Around the 15th-16th of March…

i’ve heard that they’d be sending admissions til the middle of April… I got deferred in the beginning of February as well. Why are they lagging this process so much

Hasn’t UMich always been hella messy when it came to dealing out decisions? I don’t think things are going to change for them anytime soon!
