My prof from dual enrollment said that at his freshmen orientation at UM, he was glad that his name was on the class list - apparently they had forgotten many people up to his name?? He said that the education is excellent but the beaurocracy is horrible. I can’t confirm or deny that.

I can confirm that, it’s what happens when your institution is gigantic.

LOTR and mam, if you both have higher stats/stronger rank/better reccs that the students who were admitted from your school, perhaps you should submit a letter of continued interest if in fact UMich is a top choice for you and you know you can afford to attend.

It makes me wonder if it is possible that some students are reserved as unlikely to yield? (I have no idea if this is possible…just makes me wonder.) It might not hurt to be on the safe side to drop that affirming note if that’s how you truly feel.

Has anybody been admitted within the past week?

LOTR1994

I am in the exact same boat. Have sent several emails to the regional counselor - she hasn’t replied at all. At this point I am resigned to getting waitlisted.

BTW - I remember seeing a post last july (yes, july) - from a poster who had excellent grades, scores, ecs and a sibling at UofM - was still not able to get off the wait list.

Thnx to everyone for the feedback! With all of the budget craziness at the UCs and based on my excellent impression of UM during my campus tour, I thought UM would be a great public school to attend. Of course, it still is a great school, but I’m having some difficulty with the admission’s bureaucracy. I’m still not seeing any logic to those who were admitted vs. deferred vs. denied and maybe the decision process is in part because of the Supreme Court decision from a few years back that UM lost. I can’t help feeling disappointed that UM was indeed my No. 1 school choice (and I said as much in the essays) and was seemingly a mid-level or safe school, but now because of this extended wait with no communication from UM, I feel that I must move on. Good luck to all!

If it helps any of those who haven’t been accepted yet, the last Campus Day is April 16th.

I’m assuming that if you DO get a definite acceptance, they would have to tell you soon…

SoccerWolfP I am sorry but I am not familiar with the term Programme Dates. Could anybody please tell what does it mean ? I mean are those dates possible dates when decisions can be released ?!?!

I got accepted today!! I got accepted into the summer term so if I pass my summer classes I’m accepted to the fall.

^^ How many classes are you taking and do you have to live on campus? Congratulations!! :)

I think I have to take two classes and I live on campus

My daughter was accepted on the 3/19 after being deferred EA in dec. She also will have to attend the summer bridge program. At 1st I was kind of upset because I didn’t want her to leave so soon, but now I think it’ll be perfect for her. She’ll get an early start and she’ll learn the campus before the mad rush in the fall. I just wanted to say to all of you who are still waiting on a decision…there is still hope. They seem to send out acceptance on Friday and Monday’s. You kids are the BEST!! Please remember that
my best to you all!!!

I’m still waiting patiently. Sigh.

I hope I get accepted…I shouldn’t have applied last minute. THIS WAIT IS LITERALLY KILLING ME!

Madeline–did you apply specifically for the summer term or did you apply for the fall terms and they said you can come in the fall if you go in the summer?

I think she means that she’s part of the Summer Bridge program.

When my son was deferred for the Fall 2012 term, I called U of M and asked if he could apply for enrollment in the summer term. They said he would have to withdraw his application for the Fall term first, and that attendance during the summer would not guarantee fall enrollment.

I applied for fall and they said if I update my application for summer term I can take and pass summer classed and attend in the fall

And Lisa, I talked to my sisters friend who’s a senior at Michigan. She said her freshman roommate did the summer term and LOVED it!

That’s great to know, MadelineSal. And to all of you that have been accepted to the summer program. I know you will have no problem with it, you all are great students. And this program is giving you a little extra :)
