@ FAFSA Parent I don’t think you should withdrawal, wait for the acceptance to come in with the invite. Because if you get that you’re in. And yes they will have to “pass” the summer program, but that will happen because they are good students. I just think if you withdraw it’ll be a whole new “horrible” process.

Is it better news to those who got deferred who are still waiting for a decision than for those who were deferred and rejected? Or is it a matter of them just not getting to our app yet?

“in CA, deferred in mid February. sucha hassle. i thought id get in for sure…”

That seems to be the prevelant attitude of quite a few posters here on CC. Michigan is too often seen as a safety for top students because of old fairly high admit rates that are no longer relevant. If you got accepted to Michigan dawool, what would be the chances you would attend?

Deferred in Feb. too. Sent in grades with straight As and 3 APs and still haven’t heard back. If all they wanted to see were my fall grades, what’s the hold up? Couldn’t have done any better!

well taking into consideration that michigan has a surplus of applicants this year, and that they do rolling admission, I would have to say we (deferred people) just have to be patient, I don’t think they would just make us wait longer even if they have made a decision for us already, I too got deferred and sent in grades with all A’s and one B in all AP classes soo yeah youre not alone my friend,

I feel like everyone got deferred, did anyone just get straight up rejected from the start?

I am in a sort of strange situation with UM. I was deferred RD with a >2300 SAT and good grades, etc. I have since been admitted to arguably more selective engineering programs, such as that at Northwestern University. Should I expect a rejection for not expressing enough interest, or should I expect to be admitted like most people with similar stats?

I know somebody last year who has 2370 I think SAT, stellar grades, probably 10+ APs and absolutely no B’s that got waitlisted to Michigan. He is currently at Dartmouth. The admissions process is very arbitrary.

applied early action, my grades definitely exceed averages at Michigan. I’ve been accepted to UCLA, Vanderbilt, Boston College… and yet, even though I turned my UofM app in on November 1st, I have to wait until early april. It seems making me wait 5 months is pretty ridiculous

Tired of waiting, I only applied to 3 schools UCSD, MSU and U of M. I wish U of M would just get it over with and let me know already. Into the other two but U of M is my first choice

if that acceptance came today, this is not a lie, i can almost guarantee you i would attend. “this is waiting on berkeley, notre dame, usc” michigan has been one of my tops for a while and i want to go there
