Official EA Countdown Thread!

Probably Mon. for GA…can’t wait.

if they were sent on thursday, wont most people recieve them on saturday?

omg, thats so exciting. i think i might just try to sleep til monday so it will be here sooner! but then again i don’t think i’ll be able to get any sleep knowing that my letter is in the mail somewhere between dc and my house.

Thursday? Wow, that means I would receive it on Saturday–tomorrow!

I wish I could sleep until Monday. But alas, I’ve got to work tomorrow and Sunday.

Okay I’m a little confused. Did the decisions get mailed out on Thurday or Friday (today)? Can someone please confirm?

Best of Luck to the Georgetown Class of 2009!

* Hoya Saxa – All the Way! *

I got my letter on a Saturday last year. You guys should have them by Monday though because there are signs around campus about needing student volunteers to call accepted students Tuesday-Thursday.

Thanks sportula. Has anyone else been able to confirm whether the decisions were mailed on Thursday?

ok i called admissions today and they told me that the letters were mailed today, Friday…i don’t know where moonperl heard that they were mailed on thurs.

Here are my not-so-fantabulous unphotos!

Time to go blind:

My command shots (two years, the right is more accurate. Man, was I sleepy that day.)

I’m on the right, with Dr. Graham Allison.

http://img.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/albums/v516/tlaktan/picture005.jpg</a>
I’m on the left, with His Excellency Koichi Haraguchi

http://img.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/albums/v516/tlaktan/picture001.jpg</a>
I’m on the far right, with Strobe Talbott and Stephen Cohen of the Brookings Institute.

Thanks for clearing that up, Mike. Now I can at least sleep through the night! I was about to hang around the mailbox all day, but I guess that’ll have to wait till Monday.

Whoa, I’ve never heard of school recruiting students to call accepted students and urge them to matriculate. So I guess if we don’t find out on Monday (west coast), we may be in line for a phone call?

That would be scary.

Good Luck, Future Hoyas!

( i.e. - all of us!)

this is my first time posting on this site ever so i’m not sure if i’m doing this right. i’ve been watching the georgetown forum for maybe 3 months now and i’ve finally gotten a username. i talked to georgetown yesterday and they definitely sent out decisions. i’m really nervous because i live in a suburb of DC in Maryland so I’m expecting to get the decision today…the mail comes at 3…and i’ve been up since 7 because i couldn’t sleep. i feel like i’m in this weird state of limbo because i cant do any work since i keep thinking about everything this decision means. anyway, i just wanted to say good luck to all of you!

Bulldog, let us know when the time comes my friend.

Wow, good luck. I guess you’ll be the first of us to know.

thanks guys. i’m trying to stay calm and find a way to rationalize whatever happens. i mean SFS is really competitive…and getting deferred isn’t the end…ahhhhh

no getting deferred isn’t the end at all. i was really bored and freaking out last night and i figured out that out of everyone that applied ea about 47% will get in eventually whether it’s getting in right away or being deferred and then getting in later! so just keep your fingers crossed guys!

I’ll be having the same thoughts and feelings as I sit in 8th period on Monday waiting for the bell to ring. :)

Regardless of what happens in the next 3 hours, since your applying to G’town you’re also probably applying to other fantastic schools where you’re likely to get in. Look at it this way: you’re going to be successful if you want to, and it’s up to G-town to decide if they want to be part of it or not (this is at least the mindset I’m going to take to the mailbox).

Katie, sorry to do this, but 47% of EAers will not get in eventually. It’s 15% of those who are deferred (about 75%) that will eventually get in, so the actual percentage that gets in eventually is not near 47% :(
