Just got back from an overnight visit. I’m so sure that this is where I want to go, I’m going to be freaking out for the next month.

By the way, does anyone know the exact date that decisions go out?

There is no exact date. Mid December, anywhere from the 11th to the 16th (so I’ve heard).

Oo tell us more about the overnight visit!

Yes I’m new here on CC. And my interview is TOMORROW! And the bloke had to tell me today, I totally wasn’t expecting one because of where I live and I am pretty much freaking out right now. Anyone whose done the interviews give some questions that they were asked? I think they are more or less alike in the same year…oh, and I’m an international:)NZer

Yoohoo tomzhang! You are not alone…:)

The overnight visit was cool. I wanted to do it because when you just do a regular tour, you can’t actually get in & see the dorms or the dining hall due to their security policy. It was great to be able to spend a night hanging out with students there and getting an idea of what kind of a vibe there was. I wasn’t terribly sure what to expect, but everyone seemed really chill. I loved it. Also, the food in John Jay was actually awesome, but from what I heard it gets boring. The dorms weren’t spectacular (but my standards are based on comparisons to Harvard freshman dorms, which are ridiculous), but they were by no stretch the worst I’ve seen.

As for when we get notified, I really wish they would give a more exact time frame, but oh well.

Katy3028 Wow! Where are you from?

my visit was pretty awesome as well. more than the campus, i felt the people i met in CU made me do ED. met a radio dj, some more students from singapore, random people and a part-time model. the meeting with the latter ended on a good note ;)

So, I’m generally a very positive person, but lately I’ve been overcome with a feeling of negativity when it comes to Columbia. I think it does with going to CC so much, especially with all the ‘chance me’ threads. I feel like I don’t compare. And honestly, I don’t feel like my life will end if I don’t get into Columbia. Yes, I tried for such a long time, but I’m sure I’ll be happy as long as I’m not stuck in Arizona. The thing I’d be most disappointed in, is the fact that I’ve told so many people that Columbia is my goal… I’ll feel like such a loser if I don’t get in.

Oh well, that’s my random ramble for the day.

well im not really from the us, but ive heard this one arizona state university. have u heard of it? it might be awesome too right?

EXACTLY HOW I FEEL. i go out for you, man.

tomzhang: Beijing. And I am fighting down nerves right now because my interview is in less than three hours. Ergh…
So where are You from?

Ditto

not quite. And not because of prestige or any of that, because frankly I don’t care about rankings or whatever. I’m just not a fan of 60,000 students. But my brother goes there and loves it. Different strokes for different folks.

The interview was AMAZING! I mean, I myself wasn’t so amazing but my interviewer was awesome!!! In a word, INSIGHTFUL. Columbia is SO where I want to go. Far better than Harvard or Princeton. maniacal laugh

I applied ED too! From CT… not too far, but I love Columbia SO MUCH! I submitted an additional rec, but they have not received it and it was sent out weeks ago… they received everything else. A little worried, but hopefully it will work out. I never got an interview, as they don’t do on campus interviews, and no one in my area contacted me hopefully my app will speak for itself…

Btw, where else are you guys applying? I feel like there is nothing really that compares to Columbia, I hated NYU…

I feel so indecisive as to where else to apply. I just visited Kenyon in Ohio, and I fell in LOVE! Then I realized that I could not spend the next four years of my life in the middle of nowhere.
I’ve spent my whole life on the West Coast, so I’m looking at the East Coast. Especially Barnard (not just because of it’s connection with Columbia), NYU, Carnegie Mellon, and possibly Brown.

any girls on here applying ED to SEAS?

i’m from maryland, applying ED to SEAS :)
