My friends are all telling me I’ll get in. I specifically requested they tell me that they think its a very small chance that I’ll get in, but that’s frustrating too, so now they just smile at me when I wax poetic about Columbia.

Thanksgiving was the worst. All my relatives kept asking me about college and I had to talk about Columbia, and I’m just really nervous that I won’t get accepted and at the next family gathering I’ll have to tell them all that I didn’t get in. :/

Everyone I know is like that, too. They’re all just acting as though it’s a given that I’ll get in. They just won’t acknowledge the fact that it’s a 19.9% chance.

I’m sure they know to some extent, but I don’t feel like getting into college was this insane. My parents are so convinced that I’ll get in only because the level of competition isn’t anything like it was when they applied.

Applying to college = capital punishment

But only a little more than two weeks, I think. Is that right?

God I haven’t been on CC for so long. Anyway international applicant (Indian) applied ED to the college. Want to major in physics then move on into grad programs and discover what makes the universe tick. Can’t wait to hear back. So much so that I practically quit school… might not have been the best idea. : )

pinholeprincess: my parents are the same! when i had an infatuation for harvard, my parents were like, “you’ll get in. you get A’s” and when i told them that i’d gotten over a 2100 on my SAT’s they asked, “what’s the highest you can get?” when i replied it was a 2400 they said, “well why didn’t you get a 2400?” haha
