What was in the Wall Street Journal?

And I’m not a big Morningwood fan, but that’s not a bad suggestion!

One of Au Revoir Simone’s line-up studies astrophysics at Columbia, which made me smile. They’re a fantastic group.

I assume everybody just got an email from some Columbia Student with the subject “Greetings from a Columbia Student?”

I’m not special, am I?
(Oh, how I long to be special!)

how long ago did you receive it b/c I didn’t get it :(

I’m going to run around the house like crazy and call my friends and scream into the phone at them.

I didn’t get that email either, what did it say?

Guys, as a genius. and pro, and man behind the scenes, you guys will get an email tomorrow around 5 P.M, Monday December 7th, telling us when we will find out about Columbia Early Decision!

the e-mail is just

I’m a senior at Columbia, its awesome, the best school ever, its the best, i was scared about the city but it turns out to be the best, ask ugrad@columbia if you have questions blah blah blah

I signed up on their mailing list, so that’s what I assume this is.

I just got that too and thought it was about our admissions decisions before I read it.

so is the consensus on predicted date…thursday?

Hi everybody!

I’ve been lurking for a while now, but I just got up the courage to post. I was intimidated, since you are all so incredibly accomplished, (cutesy, but true!) but as D-Day gets closer, I feel like I need your support. Everyone at my school just assumes that I’ll get in; they don’t realize that most qualified in Lawton, OK is not the same as most qualified in the country, lol.

Stats, if anyone’s curious:
Applying to CC.
SAT I: 2310. CR:800, M:800, W:710 first and only sitting
SAT II: Lit/Math 1/World History: 800/720/720.
AP: English Lang & Euro:5 (All my school offered. :P)
ACT: Comp.: 36. R:36, M:35, E:36, S:35.
GPA: 4.0 UW, 4.84 W.
Rank: 1/266.
School: Public. I’ll be first Ivy ever if I get in, I’m pretty sure.
ECs: I’m in everything at my school, but that’s not that much.
Recs: Eh. Decent.
Essay: Not outstanding.
White Female, OK.

Oh, also, if I get in, I’ll be blasting Empire State of Mind/Vampire Weekend and I’ll probably wear my Columbia hoodie for a week straight. It’d be pompous, if anybody in OK even knew where Columbia was.

alicia keys is so talented

Waiiiiiiit I didn’t get it…what e-mail? When did you guys receive it?

abbeecadabra, it’s kind of gratifying to see that there’s someone in the cc community that i can identify with so well. I’m from a public school in rural pa where Penn State is waaaaay more familiar to most people than columbia. nobody from our school has, to my knowledge, ever been accepted (or even applied?) to an Ivy. even our valedictorians tend to go to local, albeit usually decent, schools. so everyone tells me getting in will be a cakewalk, but they’re usually evaluating me on the standards of our school, which isn’t really an “ivy-caliber” institution. the guidance office is flustered by apps to private schools, so you pretty much have to manage all the red tape yourself with little to no reliable advice from which to draw. sound familiar? boy, I hope so. anyway, if I get accepted (and that’s a huge if. in fact, I’m slowly trying to abandon hope to ameliorate the pain of my likely rejection come d-day) it’ll be deliverance to salvation.

what email?!?!?

Does anyone here have a SAT score in the 2100s?

2200’s???

Mine was in the 2200s.

superscored?
