Now, that’s just a dumb thing to say unless you’re intentionally plan on going to a school that you can just breeze through without attending tough classes with significant amounts of work. In which case I’m surprised Columbia’s your first choice.

P.S. I’m applying to Hopkins too, if ED doesn’t work out.

I talked to an admissions officer this summer and they said that they will send you an email with a link. You need to use your “C00” code on that website, for it will then lead you to another website with your decision.

she said it worked really well last year, so theyre doing it that way again this year

I wonder if I’ll handle it as I would an actual letter. with closed eyes? will I click the button just as I would rip open the envelope? As a kid, I almost imagined this being more personal with a physical piece of paper…I guess now we won’t look for the size of the envelope…no hints or clues. just the verdict…

if I had the patience to, I would probably wait until I got my snail mail decision so that I could have the aforementioned moment of truth. but I know that, just like you guys, I’ll be waiting with bated breath at 4:55, refreshing my page repeatedly!

nicely put cydneyh… yeah i remember when i was in middle school and all the really big kids would talk about college and getting the letter… i always imagined sitting on my front step and waiting for the mailman…

by the way here’s a song a love about brooklyn!!

I can’t decide whether it’s better to log on and see it electronically or wait every day for the fedex truck…both will have that moment when either the thin letter will come or that lack of congratulations will show…

I really wish that mental communication was now the norm, so, instead of outright objection, they’d send you a couple of hints of your decision (eg. “you should feel good…you will like your decision…”) :)

ya i know it is so frightening and theres nothing to burn if its not in our favor
i am planning on lighting all my rejection letters on fire hahaha (not a pyro i swear)
i would also love to go to penn, northwestern, brown, u of c, or johns hopkins
i am not going to think about columbia anymore because if im rejected i dont want to be too depressed :(

hey! its been so hard to find out whether the email comes on the 10th or later? As it is for most of you that day will be the most nervous of my life haha so if anyone knows or thinks they knows i really want to find out what day that email comes!!! thanks

jackbauer no one knows for sure. It’s all just speculation so don’t believe any rumor you here unless it’s verified. We all know the latest day to here Columbia’s decision is the 15th so unless you here otherwise just go with that. If your results/email happen to come earlier than that, well consider that a pleasant surprise :)

ATTENTION EARLY DECISION APPLICANTS: Thank you for your Early Decision application to Columbia University. We are nearing the end of our application review and will soon notify candidates of our decisions.

We plan to post all decisions here on Thursday, December 10, 2009, after 5:00pm (Eastern Time).

If you have questions, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 212-854-2522 or ugrad-ask@columbia.edu.

yeah. or unpleasant. they really should post it on the admissions site, that would seem logical. since penn is friday the 11th I think its safe to be prepared for an email on the 10th or 11th… but who knows!
