OFFICIAL Early Decision Applicants Thread (Columbia Class of 2014)

On another note - has anyone seen this Academic Index Calculator thing? Supposedly, it’s a predictor of your academic competitiveness to the Ivies. I know it’s not necessarily the most accurate thing ever, but it’s interesting nonetheless. http://www.collegeconfidential.com/AcademicIndexCalc.aspx

ahh i was dying!! okay thanks for calling though. so i’m guessing we’ll get an email tomorrow for sure.

ok… thanks for the update… i can finally start doing my work now :)

I would think we’d get an email tomorrow. People in the past said it was two days before notification day and notification day is often a Thursday.

I hope we hear tomorrow. Wednesday is my birthday and I’ll spend the entire day being stressed out if I haven’t received an email yet, weird as that sounds.

Happy almost birthday! :]

@roseknows

happy ur 17th birthday then :)

So is there a chance we’ll get our decisions next week? I was really looking forward to hearing about it this Thursday or Friday…my weekend will be me freaking out over if i got in or not so I’d like to know in advance whether I will freak out… get my logic?

@ mrmanager and cjk1663

Thank you. It’s crazy to think that I’m turning 17 already! I still feel so… young.

What’s surreal is that i may be finding out what COLLEGE i’m going to…I used to think college was only for adults who were really tall. I remember thinking I’d NEVER be this old . 18? that used to seem so far away.

I want to know this week so badly. I have a feeling that it will be either thursday or friday. I’m thinking friday just because the extra day will kill us all and that’s what they want…that was morbid.

and happy birthday! you can now legally register to vote and see R-rated movies (the two big “privileges” of turning 17)

wait… you can register to vote? i thought that was 18?

and i know exactly what you mean! COLLEGE! like woah…

Yeah… voting’s 18. I wish it was 17.

i’m surprised that no one here is applying to Johns Hopkins. it’s my third choice. why is it unpopular?

I’m applying to JHU. It was going to be my ED choice, but after weighing the options I decided that applying Columbia ED was a better idea.

Hopkins has too much workload and not enough of a curve to be a good undergrad school IMO

“good” in what sense, though?

@ the “17 year old priviledges convo”

That’s what I thought, until my government teacher told me in the beginning of the year to register to vote. I told her I couldnt, I was only 17. She told me I can still register, and that I should so that when I turn 18 I am a fully eligible voter. And now I am! On my birthday, the government sent me a card telling me I was now a registered voter blahblahblah.

So go register, girl! or go see some r-rated film. the perks of being 17 are endles…

Second choices are Barnard/UPenn… I wish we found out today though, I haven’t done my homework yet!! Also, do you know if it is online?? Or will we be receiving a (hopefully large) envelope in the mail?

fghtffyrdmns: good as in it will lead towards a top grad school haha
