OFFICIAL Early Decision Applicants Thread (Columbia Class of 2014)

It’s so crazy how three years of work comes down to one moment! I find out right after I get out of school…

What am I supposed to do to contain myself till then?!

what sucks more? waking up to find out the results or getting it in the afternoon?

56 hours…

i have to say…afternoon.

But as if u could get any sleep if the decision is at 9am Friday? I think morning sucks more.

200457 Seconds.

finding out results in the afternoon would either cheer up or destroy the whole evening…
finding out results in the morning can cheer up or destroy the whole day…

Yeah, but then it’s a sleepless night and a jumpy day compared with only a sleepless night. But, I guess some people prefer the jumpy day…

And also, it’s 6am for me.

I always found out my sat scores in the afternoon, and they sucked, so I prefer to get the decision in the morning…haha, I know, it doesn’t make sense.:)

i still have a last minute ACT on Saturday… If I get into Columbia, I’m just not going to the test… but if I didnt, I am just gonna study for ACT and prep 4 the other schools…

dudeeee… i feel kinda lucky atm… southern hemisphere = holidays atm…so i just party non stop (except now when i am being desperate and looking at talk confidential) to pass the time…i actually will be in such a freak mode if i had school. Cant actually imagine what id be doing… i probs wont get any work done. So i respect all the pains that u guys go through balancing anxiety with columbia and anxiety with school haha

Ohh…we always got that “summer holiday” song during Christmas back in Wellington…miss those days…I always couldn’t figure out why aussies and kiwis supposedly hate each other so much though…I liked melbourne and sydney.

So why did you decide to apply to the US yescolumbia?

cos aus and nz suck so much its not funny. i cant talk to anyone here about anything philosophical. everyone is too laid back and just want a “happy life” >.<… i find that really upsetting. I want to study in a place where there are motivated people and social elites.

U? why columbia

More or less the same as you!!! Cause the only option for me besides the US is to go back to wellington…and enrol in Victoria University. VU lets people in without ANY selection! And all my friends back there…it’s like a place where alcohol and maniacal laughing dominates everything…definitely last option.
I’ve heard that Auckland U is ok tho, but cost of living there is like a third more than welly.

yea see what i mean! every nation has its lackadaisical proportion of people and i mean if its what they want go ahead. But certainly i dont want to be chilling with them. Columbia + other ivy’s attract a world of people that also believe that the “happy life” is not very ambitious and also very very mundane. i want energy and challenges in my life that a “happy life” wont offer. I also believe there are a ton of people out there that are just too afraid to speak out cos they dont wan2 appear too condescending to their friends. yea katy? were your friends like “why columbia? y usa? its soo happy here…why move onto a competitive lifestyle?” - how did u answer them?

I didn’t get that type of thing, as I live in a VERY competitive life style in China, and my nz friends and I just keep msn and facebook contact and I just brought it up and they said ‘great! I hope it works out for you:)’. But, you can sorta tell from their photos that they get a lot of alcohol…and partying…huh. I totally agree about pursuing challenges! I don’t want to look back at when I was in my late teens and see nothing. We all want some LIFE in our youths here! And yeah, I hardly get the type of people that can discuss literature or philosophy with me either, cause of language issues, so I really want to meet some interesting energetic people. Don’t let your friends get you down, your the one with the right idea!:)

How silly.

Really, who’s to judge if people want to relax and enjoy their lives… It actually seems more sane to me. Ultimately, what we all want is to be happy, and sounds like the Aussies are perfectly justified in their pursuit. I want to go to Columbia because I’m happiest when I’m learning. Simple as that.

Exams next week are either going to be grand or absolutely a misery to get through.

This is a little irrelevant, but how do you make your font bold, different size, colored, etc?? Haah

does this worki doubt it

[b ]remove the spaces from within the brackets, and this[ /b]

will become this
