OFFICIAL Early Decision Applicants Thread (Columbia Class of 2014)

@wg90210, yes the same information that went out in the “congratulations you have finished your financial aid application, send this in if you’re accepted” sort of email.

@cccangirl, mine starts with an r and it’s gone too, so there’s absolutely now way to decipher anything. yeah, i’ve been reading way too much into everything too. i’m just trying to chill at the moment and not visit any of my application profiles.

Maybe the box disappeared for those who completed the process. I was honestly waiting for it to disappear… or give new messages lol

I haven’t even been able to go near the link that I got in the “Admission’s decisions will be posted soon” email…I don’t know what to do. perhaps I’ll hold off on checking the decision until friday so I have time to digest whatever decision I receive during the weekend and pull myself together…I just really, really want to get in or even deferred (b/c even then I’d still have hope), I just don’t want to be out right rejected :(

Katy and julesnotverne, I also discovered Columbia through the Princess Diaries!

I started when I was eleven, but I got so attached to them that I’ve followed the whole series. I was too embarrased to walk into a bookstore and buy the final volume last year, so I ordered it online! hahahaha. So many life lessons from Mia.

Cinderella: I’m hoping so, too! And good luck (with both Columbia and IB)! I don’t think anyone got in last year but 2 people did the year before; I’m crossing my fingers that they’ll accept 2 more this year (my friend applied ED as well).

Columbia was in the Princess Diaries? I discovered Columbia through How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days…they only reference it once but ive watched it a thousand times…

Espresso: Yeah good luck to you too! IB is soo demanding…I made the biggest error in judgement when I choose to take IB Chem my senior year…math and science aren’t really my fortes. I’m definetly more humanities oriented. Thats really cool that you and your friend both applied. I’m the only one at my school and I wish I would have gone on College confidential sooner…its nice to see I’m not the only one agonizing over my Columbia early decision application. What state are you from?

whaaat. columbia was in princess diaries and how to lose a guy in ten days…??

i remember hearing about columbia in a movie…when i was 9…but i don’t think it was either of the two above

you know that feeling when you’re looking down below from really high up? that’s exactly how i feel right now.

I remember watching Holly from What I Like About You freaking about the interview. A quote from one of the characters, “Columbia doesn’t worry about the interview, as long as you have good SAT scores, you’re good”

haha, kinda true

hey everyone, i just wanted to introduce myself. i’ve been an avid reader of the cc forum for ages, but i never have actually posted something (until now). well i’m a fellow ED hopeful from washington state. good luck to you all!

GOOD LUCK you guys! i guess i will keep refreshing the website from 4:50PM tmr. i hope the result will come out at least before 5:30PM. otherwise, i will be dying waiting for it !!

Hey guys,

So I am a fellow ED applicant for CC, and i just wanted to say good luck tomorrow!!!

My heart is racing as I am reading this thread and I hope that we will all be fellow classmates at amazing Columbia.

I am a French/Peruvian/Step-Chinese (I have a Chinese Stepmother) from California.
I want to study Political Science and hope one day to work at the United Nations and take some action in making our world a better place. I also want to study a bagillion different languages…but aside from my ambitions, I just really wanted to wish you all good luck for tomorrow!!!

Hopefully the site won’t crash :)

xoxo

GOOD LUCK to everyone! Its really interesting how high school seniors around the nation, are all in the same position…we are all anxiously anticipating 5:00pm tomorrow and above all we all really want to get into COLUMBIA!

Cinderella: Ahhh class regrets? It seems like no one is happy with their current schedules, including me. IB Music is a complete joke of a class…
I’m in Florida  What country are you in?

… I feel nauseous… About 20 hours to go now!!!

Good luck, everyone! I’m sure you’re all brilliant people and applicants, and hopefully this thread will look a lot like the current Dartmouth one tomorrow! Don’t stress out too much if you’re deferred/rejected - I know it’ll suck at first but you WILL end up at an incredible school where you will thrive!!!
-From a nervous-wreck Brown ED-er

omg everywhere I go I see columbia whether its on a map, when I am driving on a car, or walking in the street and I see someone’s jacket…seriously the name columbia is everywhere and it just makes me think of the school and how nervous i am about tomorrow!!

except i will not find out @ 5 PM but will find out @ 2 PM California time!!! :)

dlab44:
I know exactly how you feel…Columbia’s name is on street signs, movie screens, books…I was actually doing an assignment on the Holocaust for IB 20th Century Topics and one of my sources was the “Columbia Guide to the Holocaust.” Its hard… but for those of you who believe in signs/omens then maybe its a good thing. >>harbingers of acceptance into the class of 2014! if you will  <<

I just got up…I dreamt that I was rejected:(
And thanks for not thinking PD is stupid:)
