Official Early Decision Results Thread

omg i got accepted!!! im so happy i cant really type more than that rite now…

yea im proud to be the only one rejected here. im gonna suck it up and live on. but i had to let u guys kno =)

mountains, at most schools that defer the large majority of the ED applicants, it is indeed the case that while a few will be admitted, it’s often even lower odds for deferred EDs than for RDs. I don’t know about Brown specifically, but that is the case at most, (though not all) highly selective schools.

As a mother myself, I would not raise your son’s hopes at this point, but stick more or less to your original message. If he gets in, it will be a nice surprise, but it’s most important that he move on emotionally and focus on his other choices, rather than staying unduly invested in Brown.

We haven’t yet heard from my daughter’s early school, but if deferred, that will be my msg to her, although her early school has the unusual policy of denying 60% of their early pool, since their stated goal is to provide a final answer as much as possible. But that will still be my message.

accepted & i’m in disbelief

does any1 kno when the actual package comes with the stuff?

I’ve met many who are deferred who get in. It happens, I don’t know anything numbers wise, but I’ve run across more than a handful of those students. I’ve ran into at least 3-4 who came off the waitlist.

So yes, there is hope, as far as I’m concerned.

that’s kind of reassuring

Deferred students: my son was deferred ED a year ago and then waitlisted. But he was then accepted off the waitlist and is as happy as can be at Brown. In between the deferral and acceptance he worked very hard on his other applications but kept in touch with the admissions office at Brown. He sent updates about his classes and EC’s, sent an additional writing sample, and stated each time that Brown was his first choice and would attend if admitted. Obviously, they can’t admit all who are in this situation, but if Brown is your first choice do all you can to remind them of your interest.

Ailey, I am definitely doing what you suggested. We told him to keep an open mind about all the other colleges on his list and it’ll be icing on the cake if he gets in to Brown. Things do happen for a reason unbeknownst to us.

deferred :frowning:

no time to post the stats now…

thing that sucks is i havent started any other apps…so yeah im going to be scrambling

does anyone know if i have shot at making it RD? (not me in particular, but are we EDer’s viewed along with everyone from RD or do we get a special priority?)

sak09, for the pediatrician and allergist, I literally just walked into a local medical center and asked every small clinic there that I could to get something. That building had at least 30 different groups in it, and the pediatrician was the only person who agreed. The allergist only allowed me to do a one-day shadow, which, in the end, turned out to be pretty useless since I just sat in the office the whole time while he went to do his work…
With the hematology lab, I volunteered at the local hospital initially, and then asked around there, and eventually found out that there was an application process for internships, but they only take less then 5 out of a typical applicant pool of 75-100 people. But the fact that I was already volunteering counted for something, along with the rest of my application, so i ended up getting a position, and I chose to work in the hematology lab.
