Official FALL 2012 Cornell Transfers

Question: when they say all notices were sent out today, does that include rejections?

I was wondering the same thing @Chris… I would guess it meant both but who knows.

@Chris1992 I guess so…I will be expecting a small envelope in the mail soon. lol.

@Adking
Yes I’m in a state university. And I’m a studio art major also applied to arch. Do u have a renren? LOL

Hi guys,
I’m applying for AEM, still havent heard anything and can’t log in to housing portal
anyone applying for AEM and got news when they will send out all the decisions?
I’m transferring as junior btw, if that makes difference… cos i noticed those who got accepted to aem are most likely transferring as sophomore

Definitely FA comes after admission because up until yesterday I was still missing two FA forms, and I got accepted last Monday. Good luck to everyone!

@aspx32 @james11223 Thanks. cuz FA office emailed and asked me to forward additional materials regarding to my father’s working situation. I just could not help but thinking over and over whether it was a good sign, or was I just too sensitive and driven crazy by the long waiting. Anyway, the result is around the corner…

@billsiki Yeah my renren is 金雪BHSFer. Add me!!! :P

I am applying to AEM to and haven’t heard anything yet. I emailed admission and they said be patient and check my mailbox and email often. Hopefully we will all know by the end of this week. Good luck.

@AdaKing just because they sent you that email does not mean you were accepted yet! I hope you were but they send that to all applicants, after being accepted I received a really professional email from someone in the Transfer Admissions office specifying exactly why a certain document was wrong and that part of the reported income was wrong. You will not get that email unless you are accepted. So I repeat, the generic email doesn’t mean you were accepted… but I really do hope you were!!! :D

san, im also transferring as junior…AEM,havent heard anything!!!

…thats what i was told " be patient"…

@james11223 Thanks (sigh). Feel like i don’t really care about the result now… just want to get it over ><~~~

@James not to be “that kid” but would you mind posting your stats? (Unless you have some ethical aversion to it as I know some out there do- so if that’s you, then I don’t mean any offense by it! Haha.)

ummmm… sureeee I don’t really feel like posting too many EC’s but here it goes

Cornell CAS: Chemistry/Economics (tentative double major) - Will be a sophomore

HS: 4.0/4.0 (pretty competitive high school with many Ivy Leaguers)
College: 4.0/4.0 (mid-term report and transcript both say this) - Took 19 credits and 16 credits in the Fall and Spring semester, they’re mostly 200 and 300-level courses.

Dropped out of high school in Junior year and received a GED. Then went to a state college, and applied to colleges half way through this year. Had some disciplinary issues and suspensions too.

SAT: 2330
SAT IIs: 800, 800 (Bio M, Math II)
Achievements: AMC 12 Region winner (and score in the top 1% in America), USABO semi-finalist, Nationals in FBLA, DECA, National History, Robotics. Played a sport, had a few leadership positions in high school and in college. Did various community services activities
AP exams: 5’s on all 8 of them - Chemistry, Bio, Macro, Micro, Psychology, English Lang, Environmental and U.S. history (was awarded National AP scholar)

Essays: Pretty good general essay and okay supplement describing why I chose my major
Recs: One really good one from an Economics Professor and I don’t know what my English Professor wrote… I guess it was pretty good. And I had the Dean write a recommendation and I think that one was pretty good too.

I’ve never really done one of these so I’m not sure if I’m missing something, but I think thats the general gist of my application. So I hope that helps and if you have any questions feel free to ask! :)

@james that is incredible. I am truly impressed. Is cornell your first choice?

Woops and I was second in my class when I left, but idt that really makes a difference.

And yes! I feel so blessed to have been accepted, words can’t even describe it. I’m just waiting for the FA package and I’ll see what offers I have on the table, if I’m lucky enough to get accepted somewhere else that’s on par with Cornell. But in all seriousness, Cornell is an incredible school and I still can’t believe I have the opportunity to attend… its mind-boggling :O

James, your stats are amazing. You shouldn’t be surprised about getting in ;)

And for all CAS peeps, I also called admissions today and they said they’re releasing mails throughout the week on a rolling basis… but they did imply this will be THE week. I don’t know about all decisions going out today though…they always seem to say different things, depending on who you talk to.

Hey guys, can anyone who applied to CAS and still waiting for a letter access the housing portal at this point?

I had this dream last night where not only did I get in, but I got tapped by Quill and Dagger. Best dream of my life.

Any ILR applicants able to log into housing?

Anyway, as always, luck to all tomorrow at mail time.

Btw, to all CAS applicants, my friend that got accepted showed me his acceptance envelope and it was inconspicuous and small. So don’t get discouraged if you see one like that!

Good luck everyone!
