Official fall 2014 transfer thread

Congrats @CHEhopeful, I know you’ve wanted this like crazy

@hellomia‌ cong!! are you a second year transfer applicant? amazing to see you got 3 yrs experience!!

Thanks everyone!! And @leannegl I am a second year transfer, and yea started working when I was 16 !

I don’t know if this will help, but I did tell my school to send an official transcript once my final grades were posted

@hellomia‌ you’re so good!! I just want to have a restaurant of my own…
btw when did you submit all your materials?

Hey guys, for everyone who’s been accepted, be sure to check out the New Student To-Do List for Transfers (if you haven’t already)! https://newstudents.cornell.edu/transfer/todolist/

@leannegl‌ thanks! And I submitted my application march 1. They also emailed me that I was missing something on April 27th. I had my interview on march 21

@hellomia‌ lol I thought march 1 was the deadline…I submitted around Feb. 25, but I’m an international transfer applicant maybe that’s the difference… ? yet my friend also got her decision 2weeks ago…omg I don’t get it now. anyway very nice to meet you : )

I think I submitted my application a day before the deadline. It was defiantly rushed!! International transfers shouldn’t be any different, but many hsa people have not heard back yet. Goodluck I hope you get accepted and nice to meet you as well!!! @leannegl‌

Blah :frowning: Just got my financial aid award. What they offered me is pretty fabulous…but they’re still expecting more than I can realistically pay. I’m an independent student, and super poor (I only make about $10k during a school year), and they want me to pay $6k per year ($2500 of which they’re expecting I’ll make in federal work study, and the other ~$3600 I’ll…pull out of thin air?). So I’m hoping if I go in and talk to them, they might help me try to work something out, maybe?

Accepted- electrical engineering. Only Acceptance letter this year!

Hey guys, so I just got an email this morning from an admission officer at COE telling me that my application was denied. He (I assume) said that my app made the final cut for faculty review and stated that I got rejected because they didn’t think my intended major matched my academic interests. So I just sent out an email to him to clarify and explain what my academic plan is. Then he got back to me and said he’s flagged my file and added the explanation to it. If the admitted students and wait listed students choose not to matriculate, he will make a case for me with the department I applied to. I don’t fully understand the current situation. Is this an appeal? Any ideas what I can do at this point? I’ve submitted a deposit at Wash U, but I’d be thrilled to enroll at Cornell. The chances are pretty slim though. I saw a post before on this thread. A previously denied applicant got an email from admissions for an offer, but I don’t know if we are in the same situation here.

Accepted biological engineering this morning via email. I got in to the other school I applied to though and will most probably be going there, so hopefully that opens a spot for someone else!

@TreeGoat‌ Congrats! That’s amazing. Are you sure you are going to give up your spot cuz I applied for biological engineering too!

@stephenfuuuuu thanks! and yeah I’m pretty positive (I’m actually biomedical so Cornell would be a bit more of a stretch). I checked back a page and it looks like you’re the same major, so I really hope you get it!

@TreeGoat‌ Awesome! At this point my fate really depends on the choices that admitted applicants make lol. And thank you! I hope I could get it too.

@stephenfuuuuu That is really weird. I hope you get in, though!

@CHEhopeful‌ I know! That’s what I thought. He said I got rejected, but technically I didn’t because he’s still keeping my file. Should I be happy about this? For there’s a teeny tiny little chance? Or maybe there’s not a chance?

@stephenfuuuuu‌ I think you have a great chance. Make sure you follow up with a thank you email to look professional/appreciative. It’ll help

I’m biological engineering and still haven’t heard anything back .
