I took AP Human Geography in the 2015-2016 school year and I thought it was pretty easy. I did not use any prep book because I didn’t necessarily need it as the course went over a lot. Also, I took no notes because I was an immature freshman so by simply reading through the course I was able to earn a 4 on the exam. However, I would not recommend not taking notes. The workload was easy except for Geo Journals which are journals you have to fill out for every or every other lesson and they’re insignificant until you have to turn them in. All in all, I liked APHUG on FLVS because I wasn’t swamped with homework like the kids taking the class at my brick-and- mortar school and it is easy for all grade levels.
Has anyone taken AP English Lit or AP Stats through FLVS? Could you describe your experiences with the class? Doable A?
Did anyone take AP calc AB on Flvs?
How is AP Stats? I was thinking about enrolling in the course this fall. What is the workload like? Thanks
Is anyone on AP Human Geography ?
@fadeless perhaps it is too later to answer you question, but I am currently enrolled in FLVS AP Stats, and it’s really not a bad course. The workload is light (only 5 question quiz you can retake for most lessons, a few collab assignments I just fulfill with live lessons), the lessons are pretty thorough, and they have help videos you can use too. So far it’s pretty good on my end! Hope you decided to take it
@Classicgirl17 Thanks for the info on FLVS AP Stats…my DD and I were wondering the same thing. Would you say you are strong in Math? My DD will either need to take calculus her senior year or AP Stats. She was leaning towards AP Stats. She is decent in Math (always gets high A’s) but it is not her favorite…just wondering if AP Stats is for a very “mathy” person…
@counselinggirl I don’t consider myself a “math” person, I grasp concepts pretty well but it’s not my favorite either. Ap Stats is much more about analyzing numbers and data than it is doing a lot of math. Yes you’ll need to memorize formulas and use your calculator some, but as my instructor told me, it’s definitely much more focused on analyzing data sets and explaining them and most of the math involves finding the mean, standard deviation what have you as far I’ve gotten in the course. In fact one whole module was just about experiments and observational studies, almost no math involved. I would recommend her doing Stats instead if Calculus is the other option. It depends on her though!
@Classicgirl17 Thank you so much!!! Super helpful! Did you take any other FLVS APs you liked? DD took AP Psychology and thought it was a great class. Really enjoyed and got a 5.
I’m glad to help! Yes, I took AP US gov and politics, microeconomics, US history and AP Lang, and am currently taking AP Lit in addition to Stats. I really really love FLVS for their resources and they do a wonderful job providing these resources in AP classes in my personal experience. I chose not to take APs in subjects I’m not particularly fond of (Chemistry or Calculus) and I think that helped me do very well in these classes (they were of course still challenging! But it helps when you find the content fascinating or enjoyable to learn haha). Definitely definitely recommend taking advantage of live lessons. FLVS AP teachers in all of my classes have put together extensive AP review live lessons that truly contributed to my success, and I went to almost every one of them that was offered. They were fun and interactive. Microeconomics especially, considering that was my most challenging class (lots of graphs!!) I wish your daughter much success, FLVS AP classes are the way to go!
@Classicgirl17 THANK YOU so much for all the helpful information!! Wishing you a great rest of your school year!!
Hello, I’m currently taking AP Environmental Science second semester . The last math prep took two and a half hours and I got a 75. I’m an A student and a senior . For some reason my teacher Ms.Staneck keeps grading me down for essays and giving feedback that’s not useful and was not stated in the directions . The last test took 4 hours to complete and had 13 essays ! Please give me advice because I need to finish the last semester and am half finished . Who was your teacher ? I also have a graduate college student as a tutor who is very frustrated with this class . Thanks !!
@Classicgirl17 I am planning to take AP Government at FLVS this summer to finish the graduation requirements. A significant number of folks have been complaining about this online class especially about the structure of the content and difficulty of the quizzes. I am a Junior with a 4.0 GPA and do not want to jeopardize my grades with a painful class. I have previously taken World History (Hons) and AP Calculus AB with FLVS and finished them in 2 months with very high “A”. I do not want to slog and end up with a ‘B’ or lower in this class. Please advise on a) Class difficulty b) Length of time to finish and if i should skip this class and take it at school or at the local community college. Thank You…
@ucf2019 I do agree that the class is a bit outdated and confusing. I still got an A because I asked my teacher for help when I needed it, and I supplemented the information with other online resources (youtube videos, etc.) They are actually in the process of updating the course, because a lot of the links in the lessons don’t work anymore, so if you find the links don’t work, just see if you can find sufficient information outside of the course, that’s what I did (you can also call your teacher too). It’s only a one semester class, so it’s supposed to be completed in a semester. What you need to to do is read the textbook NOT just the lesson tabs. The quizzes will have content from the TEXTBOOK, so it’s important to read it. You can have the textbook with you as you take the quizzes too. When you take a quiz, look at what you got wrong. If you cannot figure out why, call your teacher. I only had trouble with one quiz where the right answer just made no sense, so I called my teacher about it. What specifically were other students saying?
My best advice is to sign up for the course and decide if you like it during the 2 week grace period. If you find it’s not for you, then you could decide to take it at school
Does anyone know how hard AP Art History on flvs is ?
Who is your favorite FLVS AP Environmental Science teacher? Helpful?
Also, what do you think of the FLVS AP Environmental Science course? Hard? Easy? Organized? Prepares well for exam? @Classicgirl17 do you have any experience with APES? Anyone else? Thank you!
@counselinggirl unfortunately I do not! I had a friend who took APES, and from what she said it was definitely time-intensive, as there were a number of labs you have to complete (some online, some with your own materials). However I can’t give my own personal opinion, but good luck!
Any recent advice on FVLS and AP Art History? Is the teacher good? Looking for a medium intensity AP course – not too hard and not too easy!
can i still ask a question? or do you not use this account anymore. It’s regarding Flvs Ap lang
Is there anyone who has taken AP United States Government very recently? I’m planning on taking it next January and finishing it a few weeks before the AP exam. I would love to know if anyone who had a similar circumstance could give me advice.
