**Official Georgetown University Transfer Thread 2009**

Too bad we couldn’t find out online! It would be so much easier!!

I agree…did anyone hear today?

Did anyone email you back Mollena?

I am currently a High School senior graduating this year.
My high school grades were not good enough for Georgetown but its the only place i want to go.
I want to eventually transfer in. However, I do no want to go to a junior college.
What would be my transfer chances if i attended San Francisco State University and applied for transfer after 1 or 2 years.
Would my chances be better if i went to a JC and if so by how much?

-Thanks

Craintrain, I heard back from NHS. Here is a copy of the e-mail…
"Dear Molly,

Thank you for your email. The transfer committees are still meeting throughout the month and while some decisions are released early, each committee is different. I expect the NHS committee will wrap up soon and decisions will be mailed via US Mail within the next three weeks. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you,"

Maybe they’re just blowing me off…God, I hope not!

haha…I’m believing that is a very generic email…just covering their you know whats in case you don’t get it precisely when supposed to

This is truly killing me inside =(

haha!! I’ll probably still be waiting for my mail at Christmas time! Well, I hope we both get in and can laugh about this one day!

Crain…just relax, we’ve done all we can do at this point. If we don’t get in, Harvard might be taking transfers again next year!!!

There is only Georgetown hahaha…but did anyone else hear today?

Did anyone hear from MSB?? I read on the earlier pages that the applications for MSB this year were down by 300. how many people usually apply to MSB? do you guys think that’s gonna significantly increase chances for everyone?

UniverCity: Not yet but I applied as well. I read the same thing. I’m not sure how many people usually apply. There’s no way to tell cause what if the fewer applicants who applied are more competitive than previous years?

I guess no one heard today and it seems to only be the college so far…stay tuned I guess haha

yeah, thats true. i mean they take like 50 students which is really competitive. but i dont know. if georgetown as a whole usually gets 1700 applications, lets say 500-600 people apply to msb on average. if they’re down by 300, that mean 200-300. still pretty competitive i guess. i hate this feeling of uncertainty.

hey everybody, just FYI in my acceptance letter it said that there were over 2000 applicants for 160 spots in the class

which school did you apply to giacomo?

that doesn’t mean only 160 acceptances…that means the yield will bring around 160 students

2000+ applicants is still pretty competitive though.

asked about earlier response due to another school wanting a deposit, gtown’s response:

bla bla bla thanks for your email…Your file is still in committee review…bla bla bla…i will write again next week if there is any updated information I can give you.

FWIW, theyre still reviewing applications, dont stress it if one or two people hear early

congrats to the accepted

Hey rollz, here’s what I wrote earlier in the Cornell post:

If you do have to send in money, consider this: Assuming that “x” school and Cornell are your only options, if you plan to go to “x” school, then it’s worth sending money. If you get accepted to Cornell, then you lose some money, but the important thing is that you’ll have gotten in. however, you might not get in. So, you have a safe bet by confirming that you’ll go to the first school. Basically, there’s no point in foregoing the “x” school (where you’ve been accepted) for the mere possibility of getting into another.
