rollz, can you tell us who you emailed and their email so I can contact them as well?

I can’t understand why the transfer release dates are so late at some of these schools, I have to make a commitment for fall elsewhere before then or I risk not getting into the classes I want, etc…

couples of weeks ago, i received an email from Georgetown to tell me to resubmit some missing materials. and i got everything done right now. waiting for the decision.

and UniverCity, I dont know where got 1700 from, maybe you meant 17,000 applicants each year. Maybe you just left off 0’s because each class is around 1600 students not 160. That would make for a school of 640 undergrads going off of your numbers.
I read that Georgetown Apps are up in every school except MSB which is down 300 apps. I read that is common throughout many of its peer schools as well and is not because of greater competition but more due to the economy. More business majors are being laid off, and the public is losing confidence in the finance sector as a whole. Unemployment amongst biz majors is high, an MBA is becoming more and more worthless so people are trying to find majors to get ahead of the curve and not the tail end of a trend. Domestic apps for MSB are up, int’l apps are down.

No i mean 1700 transfer applications each year. after all transfers and freshman are not put in one pool. and the article was about the MBA program. Im not sure how much of it applies to undergrad.

That 1,700 is total transfer applicants, correct? I am curious to know how that generally breaks down to the individual colleges although I’m guessing that information is not publicly disclosed.

I called Georgetown, and they said that decisions will be sent out on June 1st. Not any time earlier, and they said those who are admitted will receive a phone call on June 1st.

So, after reading the thread, the girl I spoke to at Georgetown had no idea what she was saying. Now I’m crazy nervous. I called my roommate, and he said nothing came in today.

i think its possible that people might be lying. Someone posted last weekend that they spoke with someone that said the process had started yet. 2 days later someone says they have received their acceptance letter? There is no way to tell until you actually get a letter yourself. I haven’t heard of anyone getting any letters and the school has said that they havent made any decisions yet either. Maybe the answer depends on who is calling, who answers the phone and if there is a full moon.

ok UC, if its 1700 transfer apps per year and only 500-600 are admitted then the percentages are in everyones favor. The 300 is first year apps, not transfers. But the fewer first years that are available, the more transfers will be accepted. They still have a bottom line to meet and a minimum number of students to get in

if the 300 down is for first year applicants, i actually don’t think that changes much for transfers. it helps out the first year people. They’re still gonna admit the same number of freshman, but they might lower their standards for some. unless there’s a reduction in the number of transfers also, transfers don’t get anything out of this.

well, i am not waiting that long for georgetown, plus i am committing to summer school at unc so good luck guys! schools should NOT take so long to give out transfer decisions. its ironic, i once heard georgetown encourages accepted transfers to begin the summer before the fall… not sure how that’s possible WHEN THEY TAKE FOREVERRRR… haha

I haven’t heard anything.I almost forgot I applied. With such a late notification date I’m to the point now that I really don’t even care anymore. There is no point in driving yourself crazy waiting on the mail everyday. If you get in you get in if you don’t move on with your life.I’ve got way too many things going on in my life that are so much more important than agonizing over a college.Trust me whether you get in or not your gonna look back 10 years from now and wonder why the hell you stressed it so much.Just chill.
