Yeah, I guess, but some Government majors got their decisions already, and the lady has failed to e-mail me. It would have been nice to receive an e-mail stating that they probably will not be able to give me any form of decision before the 13th.

No one on here heard back today?? … odd

did anyone else applying to SFS get an email today about missing materials? i wasnt planning on finishing my application to gtown and kinda forgot about it, but i just got an email from an admissions officer saying that the transfer admissions chair for sfs had told her to email me for the rest of my stuff. is that just a generic email?

I applied to SFS and didn’t get any e-mail today about missing materials. However, I got one about a month ago. They were missing a transcript so I sent it in and… it seems like everything is good to go. They don’t really have any place where you can check on the status of your application.

Calm before the storm?

hahhahahha @jayfromla I think you’re on to something!!

Hey, guys. Unfortunately, I recently learned that I’m most likely going to be waitlisted to the SFS. This obviously really sucks, but the process is really competitive, and, on the bright side, I still have a shot (albeit a small one hahahah). Does anyone have any advice on what I should primarily write in a letter that I’ll send to the adcom to take me off the waitlist? I know I should I focus on how Georgetown is my first choice, but would it be appropriate to discuss the differences between GU and my current institution in further detail so I can further highlight my desire to go to Georgetown? Thanks a lot and good luck to everyone! I’m rooting for you all.

How did you hear about that Hopes?

@hopestobeahoya- sorry to hear about that. How do you send a letter to the adcom? Also, I would just say that you should reiterate how badly you want to go to gtown and everything you have to offer to the community there. good luck! Also, how did you hear about being waitlisted?

Hopes,

I was waitlisted at MSB and my admissions counselor told me that “the waitlist is reserved for a small number of students.”. I know that we’re talking about two different schools, but I don’t see the waitlist being any different for SFS. In past threads, most waitlisted people were eventually given acceptances (sometimes finding out in late July after being on an extended waitlist), so I think there’s still hope.

Hopes and Down4Gtown, if you don’t mind me asking, how did you guys learn that you were waitlisted already? I spoke to an admissions officer last week and she said that only a few acceptances had been emailed, but nothing else. It seems like each admissions officer says different things to those of us inquiring?!

I asked for an early answer because I had to make plans for summer classes. Ironically, it didn’t help seeing as how I was waitlisted and now have to wait a few more weeks.

@down4gtown- I wish you the best of luck :). Could you please post stats?

True, but at least you still have hope! I applied to the college but am pretty sure my chances are slim to none. Don’t know why I’m worrying about it so much.

@goingforanobel. I had contacted the head of the SFS committee, Kamilah Holder, for an early read because I had a housing deposit due at W&M for the summer session.

@slynch26. In terms of sending a letter to the adcom, I would probably either email it to Kamilah Holder or send it in through mail. I’ll probably email. But she hasn’t told me that I can send one in yet. I’ll probably wait until I get the official decision letter by mail and then go from there.

@down4gtown. I think you’re exactly right. For the sfs, ~400 apply and ~40 get in. The wait list is probably around 20-25 people and about 20-30 people actually enroll, according to the admissions officer whom I spoke to over the phone today. If anyone who is reading this got into the sfs and isn’t sure about going, please don’t :-). hahahaha jk. Also, I agree w/ what you said about the irony. Telling me that I’m waitlisted doesn’t help at all. Having to wait until July would effectively ruin my summer, so I hope they can tell me soon. Good luck!

@everyone- do you think at this point they are only sending out rejections and wait-lists?

^Hard to answer. All committees are wrapping up, according to the woman I spoke to today. They will start to send out more decisions soon. Wait another week or so.

Hopes,

So you’re saying that out of 400 applications, 40 are accepted (10% acceptance rate) or 40 enroll? And sorry, did the admissions counselor tell you that there are around 20-25 people on the list, or did she just say that about 20-30 people actually enroll, or did she say both?

@hopes, I need some advice. I am leaving to study abroad in less than two weeks and where I’m going the communication will be very limited. Should I ask for an early read? I just added supplementary material a couple of days ago and want to make sure it is included. Should I wait until the end of the week or ask now for an early read? What do you think?

^Sorry for not explaining myself clearly. There are ~400 applicants and about ~40 are accepted. So yes, the acceptance rate for the SFS is about 10%. And she said about 20-25 people are on the waiting list for the sfs. At the end of the day, among waitlistees and people who originally were accepted, ~30 people enroll. I hope this clears things up.
